My brother in laws 93 Tacoma hit 275000 and it started missing 2 years ago. He took out the cam and it had flat spots from wear. I thought it was on its last leg and expected the worst for him. He put in a new cam and did nothing else and that thing is still running. All those Ohio winters destroyed the frame. He found a clean 85 frame and did a swap. He loves that truck and tells me it nickle and dimes him to death. He then says yah 5cents here a dime there. Parts are cheap and its easy to fix. Its a game for him to keep it running.

I haven’t heard of that amount of mileage since the 22R motor.

If you think everything else will pass. Get a code reader. On the day of emission testing, get it warmed up then clear the code.
My '06 has 140,000 miles and has nothing but problems since they swapped the frame early 2018!:frusty:

After 441,816 miles, my 2005 Tacoma's head gasket is gone.

What does one do? I check on used ones, and they are too expensive. New ones are selling at sticker.

So I found a 2009 engine with 90K miles and had it put in! Sweet!!!!!

    Going for 750k miles!!!!

I love this solution. How much did it cost for the motor and the labor?
