So I was finally able to do some testing, turns out it is my MESO brake lights. Unplug the lights and no interference. Would using chokes still help with this?

I wonder how hard it would be to rebuild them with passives...

Unlikely. My LED interference came right through the front end of the receiver.

I checked earlier today. US AM broadcast radio is is around 1khz. That makes 117.7mhz the 80th harmonic. Not gonna happen.

Progress, well sort of.. To start with a boring YouTube video that I found for setting up a Bluetooth SPP device to work with aprsdroid and backcountry navigator. I'm thinking either aprsdroid does not support BLE devices or I have my setting wrong. A random 'serial Bluetooth terminal' app reads the serial output just fine.

I thought I had an idea but it's likely irrelevant. If I configure my TNC with the mobilinkd app then forget to disconnect from that app, I will get the same error you got. The github issue might be a better lead though.

If my 5 minutes of phone research is anything to go by, I'd say your radio isn't in KISS mode or it isn't sending the right tnc init string.

The video calls for Kenwood nmea9. There's no KISS mode in the radio, I was just trying the other protocols at random to see if anything would connect. Then I disconnected the radio fully and still can't connect to BLE from aprsdroid . Since the terminal app with BLE support can connect and read data, I assume that aprsdroid just doest support BLE or maybe more accurately the module doesn't support the Bluetooth SPP profile the app is looking for. I've got another module coming that does support Bluetooth SPP.

A kit haha damn, Arduino Nano and an HC-05? I went with the hc-06 for my 2nd module. Both should be good with Bluetooth SPP.
