What have you done to your Tacoma today? 1st Gen Edition

Have you put new shocks on yourself and did you put them on the wrong side? I’m pretty sure that the shocks are side specific. Someone can correct me if I’m wrong but if I remember accurately, that is the case.

If it’s worse in the back than the front maybe that’s why? Idk.

:edit: taco lean is a thing forsure also but maybe if the shocks are in the wrong side it would increase the taco lean

yep, waiting for it to drop on their website. Already have a UBolt flip kit on the parts shelf though so if I HAVE to use the stock U Bolts I’ll probably pass.

 

Those lowers are welded. Bolt flip would probably be fine.

 

Got her to NOT start. Low voltage to fuel pump. Checked fuses good, relay good. Havent checked the open circuit relay yet. Does that power go to the pump?

 

Are you referring to the bypass shocks or the shock relocate kit or both.

The shocks were not cheap. I don't have his relocate kit.

 

How low of voltage to the pump?
Have you checked the resistance of the fuel pump itself?

 

The kit. I don’t need bypasses. But having a set of shocks valved to my preference is what I’ve been going after.

In due time though. I’d like to find a used set I can rebuild instead of buying new. I know it can be very expensive.

 

Anybody know anything about the Light Racing jounce stops?

They look like any other air bump to me but I’ve read that border patrol was sending motors through frames because the the jounce stops we’re doing such a good job and absorbing impacts. Guess the drivers didn’t realize how hard they were hitting things.

 

Low voltage to the pump itself? Do a continuity check from the pump to the connector under the seat... high resistance in the wire will cause low voltage at the pump.




Or a dead pump...

 

I looked into them and I think I remember reading that they are a major major PITA to rebuild due to how they are built and something with a needle valve maybe...anyways. Not very popular bump choice was what I found. Sure they work for some though.

I've got a couple of those sitting in my garage with some nice torn out holes for anyone who wants them

The funnier part was that they both ripped off when I was pulling in/out of camp too

 

Lol! I remember taking mine off and throwing em in the trash. Needed more “clearance”

 

are y’all talking about mud flaps? I took mine off too but I heard removing the rear can cause cracking issues. I was thinking I should make a bracket.

 

Yea I didn't choose to remove mine, but a few rocks did for me.

I remember hearing the same about the cracking. I left the mounting bracket installed, but just folded the lower portion up and out of the way. You could also just cut the lower part too. That bracket ties that lower edge of the bedside into the rest of that panel.

 

Yeah it's best to cut the rear bracket to help support the bed side.

Yeah. Not worried about it. I got some extra 1-1/2” x 1/8” laying around I think. Is the mounting hardware actual bolts?
