depending on where the pump is at and how far it is down to the water table and how frequently it gets used it can take a bit of work to get the water to come up. After the dude was there I went over and it took me about 12 pumps to get the water flowing. And at first it just comes out a drinking water spout in the front. If you want to fill a bucket or a jug there is a knob on the top that you need to pull up to divert the water into the larger spigot on the side. Since its hard to pump and deal with the knob at the same time I was always taught that you find a small rock to wedge under the knob and keep the diverter open. Then you can keep pumping the handle with both arms. Getting the right size shape of rock can be tricky so once someone's found one you just leave it there! Dad also carries a small pair of vise grips to clamp into the knob.

everything outdoorsy is overrun this year. i tried going to further away spots thinking the new folks wouldnt care to venture out too far. nope. so i'm sticking to campgrounds. it helps that i'm doing 4 - 10's at work. i doubt i'd get a spot if i wasn't leaving until friday night or saturday morning

and i'm sure the market will be flooded with used campers in the next year or two. i always time things wrong like that. oh well. i wanted the camper, it was something i've been planning for ages and i think i got a pretty good one.

Ok so I have to keep pumping to keep getting water? Not like siphoning gas from a car once to flow stand back your done it goes by its self.

yep. once you start you gotta keep going. once the water starts to flow you can slow down. you can pump too quickly and the water will come out an overflow drain on the ground.

You and me both time things poorly. I bought my first generator during the big ice storm we had up here in the 90s. Big$$$ the next year you couldn't give them away. Now im to gun shy to buy almost anything. Research it to death then get ready to buy and its a discontinued model. Oh well thanks for the pump info.

I could have bought a house here after the economy tanked in 07. probably could have paid 100K for something that would be worth 300k today. but i work in construction so i figured it would be too risky. turns out i've been employed the whole time and it would have been smart to do. now prices are way out of my range. live and learn.

i dont regret the camper - like i said its be a long time coming. and its made a world of difference this year....i certainly dont miss outhouses and digging holes behind the bushes...

Conservatively, yes you are about right on the low side of the return.
Just took a lot of hard work and stress.
You just got to keep going and stick with it and it will always work out for the best...
We had nothing to lose, fort with the insurance company for 3.5 years and like playing craps, we went all in and decided that this was our home and FTMFW, we are going to make it work.

Just hate the anniversary remembrance of Katrina. I just want to log it as history, learn and move on, but a lot of people have to keep dragging it up every year for their own reasons. Fair enough, that is not me...
Laura is bring back a lot of memories that i would prefer to forget, but ain’t that life; not always your choice...
Thankfully there is always prayer and alcohol, not necessarily is that order....

I so feel for the folks from the Lake Charles area

    Morning everybody!

Wow, I thought that negative COVID test was the salvation of all evils, NOT, it's still Thursday, I still have to go to work, I'm still broke, I'm still old and creaky - cranky this morning...

Another wonderful day in the neighborhood !

    Y'all be safe out there..
