Has anyone had to replace a clutch yet?

Elevation is elevation. Instead of being flat at 9000' and having mtns that climb to 14,000', we have sea level that go to 4000'


Point being we regularly have a delta of 1200' on our trails. The clutch gets a fair bit of work

 

I don't wheel every weekend (one can dream) but I've got a good chunk of mileage off road in low range. Clutch is still in great shape at 43,500

 

I'm lucky. I've got trails a few blocks over. Haha. A good amount of ledges and Rickey hill climbs too.

I can do about 9hrs of wheeling and never be farther than 20 miles from my house

North woods Maine is 5-8hrs away.




Lots of private property out here can make finding trails difficult. But with research and making friends, it's a great place to live if you like the outdoors.

And enough hills to make driving an MT fun haha

Hey just to let you know, I own a repair shop in ny, book time on your clutch is 5.9 hours. Where is the dealer coming up with $1300.00 !!!! That's a little over $200 per hour. CRAZY.. OH I know we are not charging enough labor per hour..

 

I've adjust to the clutch, but I just feels rough especially in reverse in the tacoma. Good to see that a lot of 3rd gen clutches are making it past 50k. Relieving to hear, especially since you wheel. Do you think I should check out the vibration (pedal I think) with the dealership or would it be normal for it to vibrate around certian rpms

 

Reverse is rough due to the gearing being way too tall. 2lo mod fixes this, and not terribly expensive either.

 

It depends on what kind of movement you're having. Personally my pedal does a fair amount of squeaking, but there's no real loose movement in the pedal. I just wait a few weeks and the squeak goes away and then it comes back and then it goes away. I just kind of ignore it and don't even notice it and I haven't wanted to change it because I've heard horror stories from the dealership fixing it and making it worse

 

I also agree the reverse gear sucks. I would love to have a 2 wheel drive low that I could slide it into just for reverse

 

Maybe I should wait a little before I go in. I noticed it a few months ago when music was off but I just noticed it again so I will have to see.

 

yeah I wish the reverse gear ratio was a little higher in terms of gear ratio. I like the low rpm reversing but going up a slight incline hurts me inside a little when engaging the clutch

I will look into this I would have never thought that someone would make something like this ? Do you use it personally if I get it I might put it where the ECT PWR button is supposed to be

 

All the time. Mainly for creeping up my driveway and into our tight garage. Where previously I would have been lugging up the driveway and slipping the clutch in the garage.


Better hurry though, because I think there is only one left? Could be wrong.

 

I will have to make a hasty decision... I will let you know if I get it.
