I really want too. But I don't think i need to spend or even have the money at the moment. I cant wait for the wife to start working again!!!

 

The good news is that with this trail you can pretty much camp anywhere along it for free! As long as you are in a national park in NM you can pretty much camp wherever! So all you're payin for is gas and food!

I’m a big fan of the Trailhead Deflators I have, not the cheapest option and take some time to get properly adjusted but once you get them right you screw them on and watch your friends kneel in front of their tires for 5 mins.

For the trip you are taking you need a cooler with food and source of fire that is instant off. Most places this time of year will be in fire bans that will prevent open fires so if you want warm food you need a gas stove of some sort. The Blackstone griddle that @Silverspool has is a great piece of kit.

A good spare and a way to change it if things go wrong but most recovery gear has little value without practical experience which generally is not available via 2 day delivery. Don’t do dumb shit when solo and out of cell service or you are gonna be walking. But it looks like most of that route is through areas with cell coverage.

Comfortable clothes for the climate you will see, White Sands will be wildly different than Cloudcroft, last time I went through it was 70s in Cloudcroft and above 100 in Alamogordo.

 

Yep, and don’t forget your Water, sunscreen, sunglasses, and a big hat. White Sands is a neat place.
