New to the forums yesterday, was doing a lot of reading when I could before posting these.

I know all of these have been answered before in different places, and I know this is frowned upon in forums, I just want to make sure I have this right before I order things.

I bought a new 2020 TRD off road double cab 4x4, I want to "level" it (I still like some rake) and add some larger tires.

I see a lot of people do the 2/1 with spacers and blocks. Is there any real issue with doing this? I don't off road much at all, dirt roads, taking the dogs out to some fields, it snows a ton here, etc.

If I went with the 5100, if I go with the 5th setting, 2.5" I believe, does that require new UCA? I see some say only when it's 3" and up, but others say +2"
If I did that, would I need 1.5" in the rear to keep some rake?

Lastly, what tires can I fit stock without any trimming? It has 265/70/16 wrangler A/T, I want to go with Duratrecs, KO2, or AT3's.
    With the "lift" what's doable?

Again, I apologize for I'm sure beating a dead horse

1: tons of people run a small spacer lift with no issues. Dirt roads and fields? It can handle it easily.

2: my buddy ran 2" up front no UCA and was fine with an alignment. I'm sure someone with much more experiences can help clarify that one. Also check out the suspension section of the forum lots of good info.

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/forums/suspension.18/

3: largest tire size you can fit is 265/75/16, or 265/70/17. If you go the skinny route aka pizza cutters you can git 255/85/16 or 255/80/17 with no chop.

And lastly because it usually comes up I chose duratracs for a few reasons. I went 265 75 16 load range C no issues love them. (I've had them on for 3,500 miles so grain of salt)

    Thanks for the reply!
I'm not a fan of the pizza cutter tbh.
I'm coming from having a couple F150's, one leveled, another lifted 4"
I had duratrecs on both and loved them.

I wouldn't discard the cutters right away. You get a "33" tire without the cutting. Your tire selection is limited though. Plus a little spendy

Plus personally I like the way it looks on a mid size. It'd look odd on a full size no doubt

Good point. This is my first mid size so I have to change the way I look at things!
    I'll check out some pictures

You seem to pick up the forum layout pretty quick but heres a place to look. Like you already said it isn't for everyone. I have wheeled and have seen several skinny tires on tacomas and personally think it looks good.

You need the ‘full frontal’ to get the effect for these tires. Well, that’s true of other things too.

3rd gen 5100’s give a maximum of 2” front on the top perch. That’s what I’m at and it’s great.

there’s 0 issue using a 1” block in the rear except that it doesn’t do anything for the already soft factory rear springs. I went with a 2” single AAL but I wasn’t looking to only level my truck.

UCAs aren’t needed, but they help get the alignment back in to spec. Some people are fine with the alignment they get without uca, some aren’t.

265/75/16 and 265/70/17 should fit with or without a lift with no rubbing. I have 255/85r16’s and needed spacers to clear the UCA with stock Steelies, stock alloy wheels should be good to go stock or lifted.

2" on the 5100's is a bit too stiff for some folks, so they drop down to 1.5" to soften the ride a bit. Add some tall skinny tires for true 33" tires and you've got a budget friendly 3" lift without having to change factory parts. I did however add the new AALs from @HeadStrong Off-Road to keep my rake and help with the ride. I couldn't be happier with setup and its just right for me.

My buddy tore a sidewall on his duratracs. I had to come save him on a trail I would consider easy, but he does not understand finesse and just barrels the jeep through anything at higher speed than I would be comfortable at. Bouncing around and shit flying everywhere lol

Edit: the google machine resulted in many posts across multiple forums that duratracs tend to have some weak sidewalls? Didn't look past a few posts but it may be worth researching further before dropping some coin on new tires.

Thats actually really good to know. J did some googling after reading this and it seems more common then I like.
I never had an issue myself, but maybe it's time to try something new.
    Thanks!

The 285 look great. I've always liked beefy tires with a lot of rubber

    Thanks!
I have the stock 16" off road wheels.
I think I'm going to go with the 5100 and AAL.
It's fine to use the factory spring on the highest setting up front?

5100s all the way up, stock coil springs, add a leaf in the rear, spidertrax 1.25 spacers. No rubbing so far, but haven't been off road yet. Basically a 2 inch front 1.5 inch rear lift. 285/75/16s on stock TRD OR wheels.
