    Similar experience here.

I've been to two stealarships and both always assumed I was leaving my Tacoma or Tundra with them for the day, even after I scheduled an appointment and selected "I will wait with my vehicle". After reminding them that I want to wait, they always give me a dirty look and tell me it might be 1 1/2 - 2 hours. o_O

I've also been sitting in my truck waiting to be acknowledged, while watching the service techs help someone who pulled up after me in the non-appointment line.

My current stealarship is near a trail system, so now I just take my bike with me and get a 2 hour mountain bike ride in while they do the service.

I have a better experience with GM and our Suburban. It's FCFS in the appointment line and they are always done in 45 minutes.

I worked at a dealership for 6 years, so take this as you will.

Your appointment time is for when your car with arrive and meet with a service adviser. They do not have appointments for techs. Your car goes into a que with all the cars that are left over from the day before and all the cars that were dropped off from the morning before they opened.

To add to this, the techs have to go to the parts department to get oil filter, there they will wait for all the other techs in front of them, then they will BS with the parts guy about how much they drank last night and how hung over they are. Then they will go back to your truck, punch in on the job and start the paperwork. They will start draining the oil and while thats happening they go get a cup of coffee or go to the bathroom. They come back to put back in the drain plug, and to replace the oil filter. After they have completed that they go back to the computer and fill out more paperwork and punch on the job.

Now they need to do the inspection on the truck, but first they will go wash the oil from their hands. When they get back from washing their hands they will glance at the suspension and brakes from over at their toolbox while sipping coffee and talking to their neighbor about how drunk they got last night. They will then lower your truck and check the lights. Then they go back and wash their hands again. Go back and fill out more paper work.

Once all that is done, they will drive your truck around the block at high speed (because the faster they drive the more money they make and wasting time talking about how drunk they got last night doesnt cost them money) Now after they return to the dealership with your truck, they will some how still get oil stains on it despite washing their hands 3 times. After that they will drop off the paperwork with the advisor and then put your keys in a secret location. The advisor now is on the phone explaining why some ladies camry needs a coil pack and it will cost $900. Finally the advisor gets to do your paperwork, they have to redo what the tech did because its not professional enough. Finally your paperwork is ready and your truck has been sitting for 20 minutes already. Advisor comes out to find you, doesnt look very hard and goes back to their desk for a phone call. They try again and find you this time, but the tech forgot to wash your truck... despite having 30 minutes of the truck sitting that it could of been done.

You say screw it and try leave, but wait your keys are not in the car... they are on the tech board for some reason. So you go back in, ask your advisor where they put the keys. Advisor goes back to find the tech, but the tech is in the parts department again. They finally find the tech and ask them, tech sys its on the key board, advisor looks but cant find them because the tech put them on the wrong hook. Finally they find them and bring them back out to you.

Thats how a 20 minute oil change turns into a 2 hour ordeal.
