    getting there....
actually, i think they are supposed to stay together, and the clamp acts kinda like a hinge when you open the windows, that way, they will stay open, but they will be hinged together.

Its supposed to work like a closed hinge (not coming apart) mine did the same I had to replace it with a new one. Its made out of diecast something. Took me about 20 minutes to replace it. I think the part was like $15-24 bucks.

After buying my truck the same thing happened not more than a week of owning it. The drivers side window hinge broke off. I took it to the dealership the same day and they fixed it in like ten minutes. I thought I just opened it up too hard but now I wonder if its just a cheap piece on a window that doesnt get used often enough for people to be busting em like that.

yea its definitely not supposed to do that. And i recommend replacing it asap because if you open it like that you're probably hyper-extending the hinge.

what a koinky dink this was brought up. the other day i thought i should open my extracab windows. open the driver side one and the hindge snaps. i superglued it and left it in the open position. I open up the passenger side window and the thing snaps too. Obviously the superglue didnt hold up on the driverside window cause when i closed it it snapped off.

I call up Precision Toyota service dept and they admit its just a crappy piece but I have to go thru parts department to get pricing. Supposedly the whole hindge has to be replaced. Each runs about 30.29 What a bunch of shit. 60 dollars to replace em. All because a little black plastic piece snapped off.

I'm done venting thanks for reading.

I think this was one of the 1st things I asked when I joined this forum. Both sides are broken on my truck. I just don't bother opening them anymore. I still have 3 other windows that open and, on a 2 door truck, that's enough.
