Yeah, I think you’re right. It’s been an ongoing month of heat.

This and the gold/black Rocky Mountain Instinct are the best looking bikes out there. The red, black, white, and Kashima ties in so beautifully.

Edit: That’s a fat freaking elk man

Thanks, I’m digging it. The white is actually silver. My old Intense is red also. I also like that Rocky Mountain color scheme. So many great looking bikes these days.

I came face to face with three Bull Elk yesterday, two encounters. Here it is just two weeks ago they were all in full velvet. Now, the velvets gone and they are shredding trees and bushes, even bugling. Pre-Rutt behavior and getting ready to fight for rights to the ladies here in the next week or so.

    What you looking at?

This one was shredding some small trees along the river line. I snuck up leaning over the water to see him. I got to within 35’ of him when he suddenly lifted his head and gave me the stare down. It must of lasted a minute or more as I stood frozen in place. I then knew I best get out of there and backed out slowly then hauled ass out of there. Lol

I love Rocky Mounts...currently have two of them, my original one is for bikes with "drop outs," and my newest one is for "through axle" bikes. (My mountain bike has drop axles, and my new road bike has "through" axles.) Both mount in my Tacoma's track system.

"Trail Naps" are a fact of learning

Just dont try to hot dog past a slow ass lady in a way deeper than planned creek crossing and you'll be fine.

Lady friend and I were driving somewhere the other day. Came to a light, road biker was trying to trackstand in front of us. He was only kind of track standing since he was slowly rolling forward - there was a car in front of him. Looked at her and said, oh this is going to be good. 5-10 seconds later, it was good.

Yep these are perfect for that. All three of these are for thru-axle bikes, I just decided to go a different route for hauling the bikes.

did this once, but without the other biker. went through a creek, water was deeper than anticipated, and hit the speed bump in the middle, causing me to stop dead, and tip over onto my side. Was pretty soaked. :(

Yep, thats basically what happened to me. But with me being a bit of an asshat about it since she had to have been going out of her way to be a trail obstacle, and trying to make a point as I went past her.

Once my carbon hoops come in, I'd sell you my dt swiss e1900s for cheap. They're not superboost, but the wheels are in good shape if you wanted to throw some new hubs in them. I won't be surprised or offended if you'll wanna go with something nicer on the new whip though.

I've been getting the wife more into riding lately. She's still on an older Giant Trance XW with 26" rubbers. Did some riding in Bend a few weeks ago and she loved it. I also killed her on a local tech trail with some rock gardens.

Nice, I'm jealous. I've been trying to get the ladyfriend into mountain biking but she isn't much of a fan. She bought a Salsa Journeyman 650b and takes it on some relatively rowdy stuff - full on single track on a mountain bike, not her cup of tea.

PS. Nice bike, looks familiar. This was my first really "nice" bike and damn did I love that thing

I'm up in Ogden all the time these days so if you need someone to bring them down to you, I can arrange that.

I've got some used Specialized downhill Roval DH 27.5 wheels laying around. They are true-ish and good tape.

    15*110 Front TA
    12*135 Rear TA

    Make an offer

Nice! The geometry is a little outdated, but I can still keep up with most of the enduro bros. This bike has taught me that you don't need 160+mm of travel. I still think 130/140mm is the sweet spot. I do like the new bike geometry though... Our 70* HTA and 73.5* STA are pretty dated, haha.
