18.91mpg on my last tank (best so far since taking ownership last October). 339.6 miles and filled it up with 17.955 gallons. DCLB 4x4 with metal rolling tonneau. 245 70R 17 tires at 32psi. 2 passengers and a truck filled with camping gear.

I routinely get 23-24 MPG on the highway, but I'm only rolling 55-60. Best was 26, and I did that twice.

I have to imagine this has something to do with less wind drag on your x-runner. Those are definietly good numbers. I am supercharged and can get 18 going 70 on the hwy. Mine is a 6spd 4wd though

I don’t know how you guys are calculating your MPGs, I’ve owned three 4.0 tacos and literally never got an ounce over 15mpg, ever. Doesn’t matter how I drive, or what tires I have, 13-15mpg.

Most people who post about mpg, care about mpg, and are more likely to drive accordingly. The people posting in this thread may not be representative of the average TWer, so the average TWer may not get the numbers that people are getting in this thread.

I was being sarcastic. Even so, that method isn't entirely accurate. If the gas nozzle shuts off a gallon or two early it throws off your entire calculation. In my experience no two nozzles shut off the same. Hell even the angle it rests in your tank will change your outcome.

    265/70/16 Michelin’s on a 4x4 DCLB.

extended stretches of Flat highway (60-65mph) I’ll see ~20mpg

freeway or highway at 70-75mph I’ll see 18-19mpg.

around town 14-16Mpg depending on how much traffic I see.

with my usual mix I see 17mpg Per tank.

    - 87 Octane tune I got 21.5mpg going 75+ mph, where before the tune it was 18-19mpg on the same trip same speeds. (500 miles)
    - 93 octane tune I got 20.3mpg - could be due to the tune being freshly flashed before the trip so truck hasn’t gotten used to it. Could also be because of how satisfying it is to watch the speedometer climb fast.
I could probably easily get 22-23 mpg if I went the speed limit and didn’t mash the gas just to pass someone.

Recently ran some Seafoam through 2 tanks of gas, in the oil and also cleaned MAF sensor, Throttle Body, new air filter and finally...FINALLY...got 17.2 mpg! That's w/o correcting for tire size, so maybe closer to 18. and it was 90% highway. I can't remember the last time I got that. Maybe when I was totally stock and it was close to new.

I've had similar results, and came to the conclusion that seafoam will definitely boost fuel economy, as it is combustible. It was awesome until that tank was gone...then my "better" gas mileage was also gone.

To this day my best tank was 420 mi. Worked out to be 21 a gallon and I really haven’t been back there since.

I was getting 22-23 MPG when the vehicle was stock, consistently. When I did a 4 inch lift, tires, etc. its 17.5-18 MPG. I track every tank. Heck my Tundra with the 5.7 liter engine gets between 15-16 mpg.

Also the X-Runner sits 1" lower than a "standard" 4X2 Tacoma. The higher the truck, the larger the "brick" you have to push through the air.

Also anytime you install larger, heavier wheels and tires, the lower your mileage. Simple formula, add weight, lose mileage. 4X4 owners are making a conscious decision to improve their off-road capability, even if they are sacrificing fuel economy.

My X-Runner is pretty much stock. I think I had a tonneau cover on the back when I was getting my highest mileage numbers...

I got 19.7 on my last highway trip. Very hilly and was doing 80ish most the time with the AC on. I could easily see getting low 20s if I dropped the speed down.

I drove from central NC to the NC coast once and ended the trip there at 26-27 MPG. '19 SR5 DBLC 5' stock everything. It was all down hill and on the way back it evened up and once I got back home I was sitting at 22-23 MPG.

Damn I guess my camper shell and 265/75/16 tires kills the mileage. I get 14.5-15. Long highway trips at 70-75mph I’ll get 16.5-19.5, one tank all downhill I got 20.5
