Toyota being cheap is my guess. The Mod is super simple. just open up the plastic around the steering column, unbolt the factory one, slip this one into place, an reinstall the plastic. And everything works. All the relays and controls for the intermittent function, the sprayer and everything like that. Is all controlled by the stalk itself so there is not wiring or adding of anything other than the stalk to get all the function.

I haven't done this on my Taco, but I did them on my DD a Kia. They're so nice, I've got back issues and these help quite a bit. If I'm driving long distances I almost always have them on otherwise I get pretty tight, even during the heat of summer. Get a cheap set of hog ring pliers and hog rings, you'd spend forever trying to get the hog rings closed with regular pliers.

Looks good, you might be blinded by how bright they are. I used 1 per, and they are nearly too bright. The rounded LEDs are pretty directional, so I ground them down flush with the cupholder so my cans and cups wouldn't hit the LED. Grinding them (with dremel cutoff) flushed it up and spreads the light.

IIRC I think mine is off a early 2000s corolla. But there is a few threads on getting the right one out there.

got one from the local pull-a-part here in Nashville. they rarely have any Tacoma's there, so I ended up getting one off a Camry. I think it was an '02 or '03. Actually, I got 3 so I would have an extra for me, and another in case I wanted to sell one to someone. It was a super easy swap, and I can't believe I didn't do it sooner. I actually did it in the parking lot before I left. For reference, I think the '98-'04 is what will work on the 1st gen Tacoma's. I'm not sure, but I think the Solara's and Avalon's will also work.

I think the corresponding years for the Camry will work on the 95's. Not sure, but the stalks (arms) look the same anyway. They're so easy to remove, if there was any question, I would just remove mine and carry it into the salvage yard with me. Just make sure they mark it, so they know it was yours when you come out.

ah ha... I see were racing for 400k:burnrubber:
they do. I just pulled a blinker/ headlight switch off a camry form a junk yard. Not sure the year, but it worked. I just ended up replacing the actual lever because I didn't want to pull the whole steering assembly apart. but ya, they work. they might be slightly different angles, or my old ones were bent.

yeah, I think the angles are different on a few years of them. I pulled one off a Avalon, and it was a slightly different angle.

I got the inspiration to change my hi/low wipers in my 99 taco. I went to the local pic a part and pulled an intermittent knob from a 2000 Camry and it was plug and play. $25 dollar part and it’s done.
