Yes, I plan to come in from the northeast as shown in the screenshot of the Google Map. Then connect to Jackson Creek Road and continue along that.

The last time I went in, I tried this route, which was a failure:

There's a weird split at that point. One way goes to the trail, one way goes to someone's driveway iirc

Howdy! Thinking of trying to run Chihuahua Gulch this weekend in my stock 2020 OR. Going with a buddy in a Rubicon so I know he can run it, but I’m not sure about the Taco. I’ve watched some videos and read a few reviews of the trail and I feel like it’s doable but it may be on the hairy edge of capability. I don’t want to mess up my new toy too much just yet, or worse get in a very bad situation, so I’m trying to get as much info as possible. Anyone have experience with the trail and any advice?

shouldn't have an issue. take it slow, watch for your tire sidewalls and you might end up with some pinstripping... keep an eye out for rocks hitting crucial areas too (oil pan, tcase, differential). some of the rocks in the middle of the trail can sneak up on you since you're not lifted up much

    https://www.trailsoffroad.com/trails/253-chihuahua-gulch

    Difficulty: 4-4 (MODERATE )
    Length: 2.1 miles
    Highest Elevation: 11263 feet
Duration: About 1 hour, 30 minutes
Shape of Trail: Out & Back

"Chihuahua Gulch is a rocky trail through the woods that runs out to what is now a walking trail and back to Peru Creek (FS 260). The trail clocks in at just over two miles long and takes about an hour or two to get out and back. The only real obstacles on this trail are near the beginning of the marsh where there are some washouts and mud damage. Respect the delicate nature in the spring runoff and do NOT tear through the mud. This marsh is delicate and this kind of usage could get you a ticket or worse, cause the closure of the trail outright.

Just about any high-clearance-vehicle should be able to make this trail. Trailsoffroad.com teams have seen everything from a Subaru Outback to an extended full-size truck on this trail. It’s rocky enough that it’s worth the time to air down on Peru Creek (FS 260) before heading onto the trail.

Peru Creek (FS 260) and these trails are officially closed and gated from November 23rd to May 20th, "or until road is dry," which could reach into June after a wet winter. Check trailsoffroad.com for the most recent updates in the spring.
Be aware of hikers, dogs and even horses on the trail. This trail is open to all kinds of traffic and there is a lot of it since the trail ends at a lake."

Thanks for the info! We ended up just doing Kingston Peak Trail instead. Supposed to be similar difficulty to Chihuahua Gulch and I definitely put some hits on the stock skids. Nothing hurt, but I think that's about the limit on trail difficulty I want to do without getting my new skids and sliders put on. I'll try out Chihuahua Gulch once I have all my stuff in from RCI.

Has it calmed down a bit or is it still crazy for dispersed up there? I was talking with the girlfriend about finally heading up there - possibly next weekend.

I work for the utility, I’ve had crews up there for 2 weeks now and still many to go.
I’m going a few miles west of rustic today so I’ll see what’s it’s like and get more pics

I'm surprised to see the fence posts still standing.
