That's one things Windows does better than Linux now, is faster boot time. With Linux, I end up staring at the vendor logo for a few seconds before anything actually boots. Luckily I only need to reboot every few months.

Likely ML series fans. They can hit 3000 rpm . They move a lot of air at that speed though, almost double what most fans can.

Thanks @m603holden. Is there a subject matter that is not covered on TW?

I was tagged here as I made a post searching for a Nvidia 970 GTX, or better, card. I did get one reply to my post on the Buy/Sell/Trade - Other board, but if someone here has any other options, I am.open!

It's a pretty diverse site with a wealth of knowledge in many different areas.

It's presented as a truck forum but it's really a life forum with a focus in Tacoma's

I have 2 questions for the knowledgeable ones in here.
Is a 2070 Super a good match for the R5 3600? I’m leaning towards finding a used one to replace the RX580 once the 30 series cards have been out for a few months.

And secondly, are my case fans supposed to stay lit when the PC is powered down?

    What resolution are you running?

It'll be good but at 1080P a 3700X might be slightly better in the long term.

Might as well wait to see what a RTX 3060 can do. It'll probably be a lot cheaper than a 2070 Super and very comparable. It's supposedly launching in November.

I’m running 3 1080 monitors, one is 60hz and the other 2 are 144, I only run a single monitor for FPS games but simulators I run them all as a combined panel at 60hz.

Ok, I’ll keep an R7 upgrade in mind.

Interesting, I saw a little snippet of the price points for the 30 series but didn’t pay much attention, I just assumed that the 2070S would be cheaper than the 3060.

yeah I would wait. I have a 2070 and its a good card, it will crush anything on 1080, but with the new cards coming out soon you could probably get a 3070 or 3060 for the same price

I am still running my 2700k strong with plenty of great results for what I play paired with 1060 ssc 6gb.

As long as you play medium settings you'll have 60+ fps in most games with that combo.

Games like Cyberpunk 2077 though are supposed to be extremely multithreaded. The days of four core CPUs being gaming chips is passing. A lot of the drive to multicore up to this point has been around the massive amount of background tasks most people run. Streaming, keeping a browser open for gameplay hints, or even leaving your antivirus on all subtract resources available to the game.

60+ Is easy to get on medium with what I play. I totally agree that the days are limited for our chips. When it comes to games, I am not one to follow the latest game release and stay caught up with everything. I only play a few of my tried and true Borderlands 3, Iracing, Dirt Rally 2.0, and sometimes Forza 7/Forza Horizon and so far she is still running in tip top shape.Im not seeking 4k graphics either .Dont get me wrong, I would love to do a modern build sometime soon but I have other obligations for those funds. LOL

A while back I asked for some advice on building myself a new 3 monitor setup for my Sim racing. Well I was able to finish the Summer/ Covid project last week and grabbed some pics along the way. I did it with the help of my friend who knows a lot more about wood working than I do, I made the sketches and brought him the design plot with measurements and we worked on it when we had free time to meet up at the shop.

The old Setup. Small and simple but it did the job for a long ass time.

3/4" 13-Ply Baltic Birch from a local lumber yard that I brought to my friends wood working shop to get things started.

LOTS of Clamps!!! Cut the single sheet down and doubled it on top of itself for even more strength, and I wanted to use as much of the wood as possible. It wasnt cheap but it is built like a tank.

A lovely Stain with many layers of Poly seal to protect it from anything.

We used some of the scrap wood along with some nuts/bolts from around his garage to make the headphone stand and capped it off with a Lug nut to stay with the theme.

    Test fitting the side monitors.

And the completed area. It is much more appealing to the eyes and a little bit more of a conversation piece besides "Oh, you have a racing wheel" LOL.
