So, I was contacted by someone on IG who has a 2019 Taco Sport... they asked me to diagnose their issue.... they sent me a video of them cruising 65ish in 5th gear... get on the gas a bit to accelerate and the RPMS shoot up and jiggle at the top.... they are describing the truck getting squirrelly in the rear

No, it’s not Friday, yet... this is a legit post and I’m legit at a loss LOL I thought clutch, but they are saying 100% it isn’t the clutch....

anyone? And yeah, the title is click baity... CNN does it, thought I’d give it a whirl LOL

With no evidence to the contrary it's clutch.

It's 100% the clutch, nothing else can slip. Pressure plate may be the cause, but its the clutch regardless. Overdrive is how we test failing clutches.

If it was kicking out of gear it would be trans related.

    Hold up a sec.

If someone smoked the clutch a bit, it is gonna slip afterward until the glaze is scrubbed off and the dust clears, esp with CF friction material.

Give it a day or two and re-evaluate.

Only in 5th gear? That doesn’t sound like a bad clutch.

    I’ve never driven a MT 3rd Gen?
Is it even possible to get it to “spin the tires” in 5th even when it’s wet?
As in Double punch the throttle?

I’m going to have to go with clutch.

Yeah, no kidding. It has to be the clutch.... guy who reached out is an ironworker in Seattle, working 6/10's... with dealerships being a shady as they have been and a schedule like that... its going to be a while before we know what it was.
