Ninja forum sucks

Ive been a member of this forum for a few months now and you guys seem to give good advice and quickly. Thank you.

Ive had a 95 Ninja ZX6R since 95 and Its in MINT condition. And I do mean mint. I just bought an 08 Ninja ZX6R and since it is a fairly new bike, the fairings are a dime a dozen.

What Im getting at is, my wife wants to learn how to ride and Im not abought to let her touch my 95.

I know bout frame sliders and crash kits but what I really want to know is wheathere anyone can tell me from their experience, what is the best thing to put on the bike to protect it for when she dropes it, and she will drop it. I would ask the people in the ninja forum but they seem to be either too arrogant or just freekin lazy. Guess these young guys, when they get a bike they think they are the shit, so they give you a smart ass answer.

Sometimes the low speed accidents can be the worse damage on a bike and to a person.

teach her on a nice paved empty lot with no gravel. . .

Have her understand the concept first and see if she gets that before getting on the bike.

If she can grasp that and you're comfortable. Then let her ride.

YEa.. you can add some stuff.. like sliders and levers and stuff. But it guarantees nothing. I've had a bunch of that stuff, but never tested it. Now I ride a dual sport which is both armored and.. I don't care if it falls over.

You really think she'll drop it? I mean... super sport bikes are real unstable.. but if she can ride a bicycle. Not my choice of bike to start on. Twitchy point of balance and throttle AND grabby brakes. There's a reason why they aren't considered "beginner bikes". (where beginner is first few weeks/months of learning from zero)

I'd worry about her before the bike. Women don't generally have the bone, muscle and joint structure to survive a moving tip-over without at least some injury.

Insure the bike and/or buy a nighthawk 250 for her or something. Not much to do other than a crash cage.. which costs more than a nighthawk 250 and still guarantees nothing.

I am going to teach her how to shift on my dirt bike. I say that she will drop it cuz its only expected from a begginer. she has gear. Trust me, she splits wood in the winter. Need I say more. Well I will, shes sexy too.

What are these levers that you are talking bout. And trust me, if she lays it down, it will be just like a baby, they will learn and never do it again. lol

 

ive got a 905 stunt cage on my bike from my stunting days... works great as protection when i taught my wife to ride.

X2 if your really worried about it pull the plastics and cage it. Just google stunt cages and look on you tube as well. I just went down today (first nice day in a while) tring to learn to highchair. I had full leathers, helmet back protector and shin guards on. Kept being light on the gas, go tired of it so dumped the throttle and clucth and looped it at about 50. Point is I took all the plastics off and its caged, all I broke a little bit of the subframe and the rear brake lever and not a scratch on me. When she is learning she will most likely low side and with a cage it wont hurt a thing. Make sure she gears up, take her to a big parking lot like a fed ex warehouse and have fun. dont get stressed

 

oh and dont get a freestyle injinuity cage. I looped out my 929 and the cage folded and it destroyed engine cover and stator.

and WTF are you doing trying high chair at 50?!?!? are you geared? i get mine up at maybe 10-15 in second...

 

haha yea I kinda asked myself too, I am -1 +2 not enough for slow second but enough for 1st. I was just messing around doing stand up's and figured I would change it up a little. I need to get slow down for sure, kinda suck at it. But it has proven true time and time again as long as your smart about where are stupid (parking lot with nothing to hit like light poles) and smart about what you are wearing when you are stupid (full gear) you are more than likely gonna be ok

OP, if it were me and I was this worried about it I would get an a Ninja 250 of craiglist and let her learn on that. Then, after she gets the hang of things on it let her move up to the bigger bike. Afterwards you could sell the 250 and get some money back OR (and I like this idea) turn it into a rockin' streetfighter commuter like this...

OF COURSE! let her flog on of THEIR little ninjas (or whatever they have in your area).

I just took the advanced course last weekend and it's amazing how much you can learn with someone watching and coaching you.

MSF for sure... they teach you like you've never seen a motocycle before plus provide the bikes to trash

 

I dont know how tall your lady is, but it is a huge confidence builder for the novice rider if they know when they gotta put their feet down it's not just tippy toes but the whole foot.
