Tacoma - OVTUNE - VFTUNER - Update Info and Original Development

Nah, he’s always said that he could only do so much. I guess re-flashing and re-setting whenever you feel the shitty stock tune features return is all you can do.

 

Damn I didn't know that. That's like the whole Crux of the issue. If it just settled back to learn what's the point?

 

That doesn’t make any sense. If he is completely deleting ECU/TCU tables and adding new ones there is no way the software just re-learns and adds those deleted tables back in or removes the tables he added.

@OVTune can you elaborate?

I feel a difference when I Reflash my truck with the SAME tune after running it a while.

 

That’s probably because you are consuming more fuel until it settles which may feel more awesome than it really is. The engine will NOT run its best until settling has occurred. This is noticed with the weird shifting and strange ranges in mpg. I have just over a 1000 miles on the 2.0 91 octane 4.88 33” file and it is better than when it started. Response, power, and mpgs are great. 2016 TRD OR AT

 

Can anyone help me figure out which file I should flash my truck with? This will be the first tune/flash on the truck. I am completely stock and run 93 octane as 91 is not readily available in my area. I am not very computer savvy but I am not illiterate either. From reading the files my guess is the file listed as "premium_stock" or "premium_stock_thx." any insight will help. thanks!

Same. I know it’s learning because it drives different every time I get in it. Still no predictability.

 

There's a difference between tune settling after a flash (0mi to 500mi) and reversion (unlearning / unsettling ?) after a flash (>>500mi). Like you have seen, settling generally does good things. The reversion aspect can rear an ugly head though.

Thankfully for me, I have only experience reversion on the early 2.0 Betas. Life seems to be great on any full version tunes.

Torque converter does not lockup in 3rd. It starts locking up in 4th somewhere north of 40mph.
What you see in 3rd is intake vvt changing angles. I see it go from 50° to 20° causing the describe conditions.

 

Hahahaha! Most likely, but there are some MT folks that say they experience reversion. Just more truck to truck weirdness and inconsistencies?

 

So here I am sitting in my truck when its 104 degrees outside trying to get this ov tune to work. So my problem is that when I open the software and plug in the hardware to my truck and computer the vf tuner software dosent see my truck. I am trying to complete the final step of the registration process but I cannot get the information I need because the software and hard ware cannot see my truck so to speak. Ofcoure vftune dosent have an actual troubleshooting page or any troubleshooting information and can only be contacted through email and will only respond back at their leisure. So if anyone can help I would appreciate it. In the instructions its page 21-23

I only know how to do this for sure with Flash Manager. Give this a shot:

I downloaded everything they sent me todownload and told me to down load from their website

 

I think it's once u open the app. In the tool bar one of the drop-downs will say download driver's.
