What tents are you guys running? And what's the advertised interior width?

I ask because a CVT Mt. Shasta, and a Tepui Kukenem 3 list as being 56" wide. You might think then that an Exped LXW at 52" wide would give you 4" less sleeping space. That is NOT the case however. with the hinges and poles (which sit inside of the tent footprint, you lose about 3" of width, so there's really only 53" of the 56" available for sleeping.

As such, for those 2+/3-person tents, the Exped is perfect.

For a larger tent - CVT 3+, or Tepui 4-person tents, then yes, the Exped is too narrow. In that case, I might consider 2 of the narrower Expeds side by side.

The mattress has been a game changer for us, which is why I'm adding all this and pushing it :). I should note that I'm not sponsored, I paid full price for mine, etc. I'm just a fan.

Here was my "1-year later review."

Deflating the Exped makes it easy to pack away with all the bedding in the tent.

Yeah, so I think you'd be perfectly happy with an Exped LXW; you wouldn't lose any width of your tent. I'll take a photo of mine and post it so you can see the width.

:gossip: Oh, and if you get it on amazon, you can always return it if it's too narrow.

Thanks Bob. Probably sold on the Exped. It's a lot less expensive that the Tepui. Although, the possible restrictions on 'Activities' concerns me!;)

Right, the LW+ and LXW are the same thing. Looks like they aren't available on either Amazon or Exped's site - sold out. Crazy. I wonder if they are having supply chain issues.

I know they are pricey, but trust me, they are way better than the Siesta Mattress (or any foam-only mattress).

Might go memory foam topper. Used one last night and it was a drastic improvement. When everything blows over, there will be plenty of stock and used camping equipment available.

I'm running a Mt Shasta with a 55" mattress and usually end up pushed against the tent poles as my 4 year old takes up most of the tent. With the exped I can see it being flush on my wife's side with the 3" gap ending up on my side. I think in the long run a wider tent would be a better choice for me.

    Yeah.
Just ditch the kid or the wife, whichever one you like less.

Seriously, though, the ExPed fills it from side to side perfectly. There is a space on the end, but width is perfect. But, your situation is only going to get worse as the kid grows, so sizing up might be your best option.

I like those lights under the tent. Is that a part of the RTT, or is it an add on you did?

    It’s part of the tent.
It also has a light bar on the inside. Lights can dim too. Has a controller in the tent. You can do lower lights. Inside lights. Or both on at the same time.

Morning, looking for thoughts on Swaybar relocation brackets? Is there a "better" brand than others? Mine is contacting new OME Nitros. Thinking about also removing but as my daily I'm not too sure with how these animals in STL drive :burnrubber:. I may take it off and do some test drives but still interested in a kit if anyone has input or suggestions for that route I'd appreciate it.

Wrong thread? I don't think brands matter. They're all doing the same thing

Has anyone seen or had experience with CVT's new Hybrid Series? https://cascadiatents.com/hybrid-series.html Soft shell tent but with hard top and bottom and with racks on top - what I think the IKamper X-cover mini was meant to be (but never made it to market?) CVT website says it cuts set-up time in half. Sounds amazing, though I see the weight comes in at 207lbs (with an extended fly)!

I’m still researching roof tops, and have focused on hard shells. What features make a soft shell desirable. For the hard shell, it’s the hard shell that I’m looking for.

I've spent the last month entirely seduced by the hard tops - especially the Skycamp mini and all it's similar brethren - so sleek, efficient etc - but after renting a Treeline 2+ soft top last week, I realize the soft tops like the CVT Shasta or Treeline Tamarack have more headroom and more openings for airflow and light - they just feel roomy and spacious - even the 2+ models. This may be particularly important with my bedrack mount which will always limit one side of windows opening. With a skaycamp Mini, one whole side would be covered by the hard shell, and a second side would be limited by the truck cab, and with an extended fly, the "front" door would also be obscured. With a soft top I will know I can always have at least one door to open wide to let in air and light.

The biggest downside to softtop, from my perspective, is extended time for setup and take down, which is why I was hoping CVT had found a happy middle ground - we shall see. Of course the other perk of soft, is reduced price.
