if i were you, i'd stay away from the 2nd Gens...big problems reported. 1st Gens, on the other hand, are perfect and, thus, harder to find; but definitely worth the search.

While some of the second gens had some issues, all appear to be relatively minor.
My 2010 had some electronic shift and rear spring issues but they were both on TSB's and handled under warranty. Had mine for a year now. Plenty of getup and go. Good gas mileage for a 4x. If you like Toyota's then you will like the 2005-2011 trucks.
Are they overpriced? Ya, probably a bit compared to other trucks. It's those dang Toyota fanatics that drive the truck prices up. When all the safety issues cropped up they dropped a couple of grand but seem to have come back out of that slump.
    Just my thoughts. Ken

Sorry fellas...my sarcasm doesn't translate into type very well. The 2nd Gens are top notch...just bustin' balls.

Ya, if I had to do it over again, I might go back and consider another F150. I miss the bigger truck, but then again, I bought this one for gas mileage and cause it looked purdy..

Ya, had an 02 4x4. Great truck, except for the gas mpg. Anyway, my taco is pretty consistent getting in the mid 15's in town with slightly larger than stock BFG AT's. Stock tires were in the high 16 range. Mind you by in town I mean 3 miles back and forth to work. The few highway trips with the stock tires in excess of 150 miles saw numbers bumping up to 21 and speeds of 70 mph. Pretty good for a 4x4.
I am interested though in looking at the new F150's in the spring. Some to the info on the new motors offered is pretty interesting.
Oh, by the way. Nice truck

ya, it might be tuff. The eco-boost engine, a 300 hp v-6 and a new 5.0 litre V-8. Either with a bit of decent gas mileage could sway someone.

If I had one gripe with the Tacoma, it's the interior size in comparison to the F150. No back seat room for a true adult and ya gotta duck your dang head to get in the front seat.

yea man I hear ya on that. One thing I will miss about my truck was its interior size, there nothing like it. Im usually by my self though so I think a Tacoma will fit me well. Hope to find one soon! lol

good luck. Hit http://www.searchtempest.com/ searches Craigslist without all the clicking on each city. Can set the distance as well as searching eBay without too much hassle.
