Damn, I was about to plan a drive to Mono Lake to try and get away from all the smoke but it’s got a fire going there too. Hope you guys are all safe and sound.

 

Any one want a creek kayak? Perception phat. One of the best creek boats ever made. I have owned it for 15 years, always stored in a covered space. Not a boat for a novice as it will roll easy. Not a flat water boat. No skirt or paddles, only outfitting is seat, hip and back pad. Have to pickup at my place near sonora.

Finally got my aluminum bar stock. I ordered it quite a while ago and it got lost in the mail. The seller had to turn it in to isurance for reimbursement, but graciously sent another.

Was able to use @Pella band saw to get nice clean/square cuts.

These are cut to be used as spacers to set my bump stops where they need to be, without the temporary scraps of square tube I have welded to the bump pads on the frame.



Now I just need to send a drill bit through the center, so they can be bolted between the bumpstop and the bump riser.

 

Hit a turkey going 55mph this morning . F'er just jumped right out in front of me.

Hit it square on the plastic valence that sticks out the front of the bumper. Broke a bunch of clips but everything else looks looks ok after I pushed it back together. The paint on the bumper right behind the valence stretched a little from the impact, so it's a little wavy.

Valence is only around $70 bucks so I'll probably just replace that and live with the paint blemish.

Although those slimline steel bumpers are starting to look real good...

Just saw these M1 Abrams heading north by train on Santa Fe near Atwater.

2 tanks per rail car over a mile long. Never seen this before??
