As far as I know Tundra rotors and calipers can't be installed on a 2nd gen Taco, could you tell me about it? Thanks. I also have 4Runner rotors and calipers but I trimmed my Taco's backing plates instead of getting 4Runner backing plates. It was a good upgrade but doesn't come close in a comparison to a Tundra master cylinder and booster upgrade.

I've read they can be noisy and leave an insane amount of brake dust on the wheels. Different people are bothered by different things, and priorities...

I am definitely not going quite as all out as you are, but I like the idea of the 3-way component speakers with the soundstage higher than it is right now stock. I am damn tired of the shitty stock sound. But since I don’t do fiberglass work I will have to see what it costs for custom work like that.

Looks amazing, and I bet it sounds amazing too!

X3 on the front stage being less than ideal. I'm going a little different route with enclosures for the front mid bass, 4" mids where the stock tweeters are, and tweeters on the A pillar and the back... err front of the rear view mirror. I installed for 36 years but haven't had a system of my own for a few years. Now that I have one I'm thinking "what the hell was I thinking not getting a system again?"

Spray around with PB baster First. Hammer second, a lot . Then pry with screw driver. Then use the m8 bolt.

With mine I realized that the drums were grooved and catching on the shoes, partially pulling them out. While you are prying to have to try to force the shoes back in. I sprayed on blaster into the brake a little to help the drum slide of the shoes.

I promise, once you go 3 way component front stage, YOU WILL NEVER GO BACK!

There are times I’m listening to a song I’ve heard a 1,000,000 times befor; all of the sudden, I’m like, what was that? I’ve never heard that sound or note before.

    It’s awesome

Just did the VSV mod today no more ticking, at least that my old ears can hear. Used 3 RO-3 o rings two next to the bolt head and one between the valve and the mount. There is a hard point (brace maybe) that still was contacting the hard plastic on the block. I ran a Zip tie up between that brace and the mount as I tightened the screw, hopfully it provided more isolation. But it sounds like the ticking is gone and the wine of the pulleys and tensioner is louder. Makes sense, so those are next on the list with the serpinetine belt.20200828_143240.jpg 20200828_142141.jpg

How does it compare to a high end home stereo? I fear I’d have to spend a small fortune to upgrade my Taco and still not be happy. Idk. My wife’s BMW is the only car I’ve ever been in that’s rivaled my home system.

My wife doesn’t know it yet, but home stereo system is the first thing we are upgrading when we move next month :spending:

When I have my drums off, I use a flap disc on my angle grinder and remove that ridge on the edge of the drum, where the brake shoe has worn in. This makes them much easier to service in the future. I just cleaned up my rears a few months ago and the brake shoes looked great. I cleaned and regreased everything, wire brushed and painted my drums. I accidentally swapped my drums when I put them back on the truck and could smell that one was hot after driving it to and from work. Couldn't figure out why. Then, one night it occurred to me that I may have swapped them. I swapped them back and everything settled right back in.
Something to keep in mind. Also, another good reason to sand off the ridge.
