People put way too much focus on differential lockers. They help here and there but driving without them makes you learn to be a much better Wheeler. I rarely ever use mine, and I've wheeled for 6 years without them

But this noob was just told that if one front wheel and one rear wheel have no traction he's STUCK.
Life can be a cruel disappointment.

I came to 4x4Tacoma from a J10 V8 Quadratrac.
It did take some getting used to.

 

Those quadratrac's do all the work for you

 

We were writing the same thing simultaneously. Both versions we're equally informative IMO.

I added the Doug Nash front locking hubs and OD gear. Highway mpg went from 8 to 12 mpg.There is a conical friction front to back locker in the Tcase that locks front locker to rear locker.
I miss that badass TRUCK.
