My rpm drops by maybe 150-200. How does cam timing cause rpm to change?

so, unfortunately i wont be able to test the 5.29 speed limiter file. I havn't ran vftuner in a long time. i was given the 5.29 test file in vftuner format. problem is my pc took a dump 3 weeks back and i had to restore pc from a backup prior to when vftuner was installed. i just attempted to install vftuner and register again, but i'm getting a bunch of errors so i submitted a zendesk ticket to get it all straightened out. bummer but will test for everyone as soon as i can.

That's the only one I ever ran, except we have 93 here in ky. Thanks to @tonerd for the suggestion on that one. I feel like it's gained 25hp lol

17 04b04. To all yall commenting your issues or what not. I've experienced none with my 2.0 and I'm running 33s 10 ply and on the thx premium stock. Ill have to play with 3rd gear more and see if mine jumps around. I've found this 2.0 base spectacular over the betas. Thx is definitely great. I love the fact I can give it throttle. Let it shift then put more throttle down and it will hold the gear and accelerate. All in Drive . Throttle response follows with acceleration and doesn't shift early or go back and forth on gears. Any other 04b04 got concerns or possible issues ? I'll see if mine does anything similar to compare notes

    VVT doesn't change rpm.

All torque converter locking and unlocking tables are in VF Tuner.

vlady does datalog and forms his own conclusions out of it.

Thanks, Matt. My truck has always done the TC lock/unlock dance in 3rd, no matter the tune, or time since flashing. Can't wait to dig into it in VF. Really strange how it seems there is a lot of variance how the 04B04 trucks take the tunes.

It dosent I go to accelerate and the rpms fly up while I barley move then it shifts down 1 gear and starts moving alittle more then shifts down one more into second and starts to actually accelerate at a decent pace. If I want it to shift all the way down into first I have to stomp the pedal to the floor let off then do it agian and it will shift all the way down to first gear and then at 6k it bounces off the rev-limiter twice drops the rpms from 6k down to 4500 and shift into second.

I want to know how you’re getting your truck to stay in 4th gear when you’re stopped

It looks like it stays in 4th gear, if you move the gear selector from D to S, on the display it shows 4th gear, even while stopped. I usually tap it down into 1st, and use it like a manual transmission until I'm up to speed. If you just take off from a stop without tapping it down, it looks like, (feels like??) it's taking off in 4th, because there is no change on the display. Maybe??

This is my experience, and I'm not super literate on how the truck/tranny is operating, maybe it actually is shifting itself down to 1st for take off, but there are no visual cues. I have been trying to feel for the shifts, but can't say for sure.

Anyone care to chime in, similar experiences, or for clarification?

Moving the shifter over to Sequential only limits the top gear. 4th is the default top gear at that speed.

When you put the truck in S mode, it only limits you to S4 (4th gear)
the truck doesn't start from 4th gear. it still starts from 1rst gear.

I'm not doing it the truck is doing it on its own usually after I've been driving and need to make a turn and have to yield. So basically if I'm moving at a speed greater than 40 and I have to yield to turn and that yeild requires me to make a short but complete stop the transmission will not downshift into first when i start to accelerate it lags then shift down gear by gear until it starts to accelerates at a smooth rate its hard to explain but imagine driving a manual transmission being in fourth gear and slowing down to about 10 to 15 mph and trying to accelerate from there your revs skyrocket but you don't move. Basically the same is happening but from a complete stop

In that case your revs will drop to almost nothing, and your engine will stall. But true, the truck would not move.
