I don't either honestly, looks like the jaws would slip off while sliding. The guy I made this one for comes in with some junk to work on though, lol.

That's what I was thinking...the jaws would just slide off of whatever it was tied to.

    Added a poll about welding.

1985 I was 10 years old and my dad had a Lincoln buzz box stick welder. He still has it and still uses it.

I remember asking him to show me how to weld and he said sure. He handed me the stinger and some scrap metal. I ask how close do I get the rod? He said as close as you can without it sticking.

It was game on for me welding after that. I started doing odd jobs for friends later on and eventually bought a Miller Bobcat portable welder and hit the road for farmers, loggers, friends, whoever I could do work for.

Things have changed in life for me and I don’t do a lot of portable welding these days but still have the welder and use it mostly as a generator for the house when the power goes out.

Working full time in the machine shop then welding after work was great when I was single and young. Now that I’m married with two kids and owning a convenient store, there’s not much time for welding at home. I’m blessed to be able to do most of my side work at work.

You need to add yes but not very well or needs refinement to your poll there.

    Added.

I also added another choice because that’s what the guy out in the shop tells me when he needs something important welded

Good poll! @StayinStock should take notes on how to come up with his own polls.
