I never use lane departure, mainly because I get sick of hearing it beep at me all the time! The two recent safety features I really like are auto high beam and adaptive cruise control. Everything else I would be fine without having.

Have you considered using your turn signal or staying in your lane? :p

This just reinforces my decision to add windshield protection on my insurance. $400 is absolutely ridiculous.

I find the adaptive cruise irritating. I still use the cruise, just the old school way. The high beam thing is neat. I just keep forgetting about it.

Just saw ethanol free gasoline at Sheetz in Breezewood for $3.39/gallon. I guess it’s getting more and more popular!

    A thing or two...
I hate lane departure. I had an Ascent for a week while my wrx was at the dealer, and I turned that crap off when it tried ripping the wheel out of my hand trying to change lanes with cruise control on.

Not a big fan of adaptive cruise either. I've only had one rental with auto high beams, and they weren't that great.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
I have the lane departure turned off. It's annoying, and it seems that most of the roads here were laid and painted by cross eyed engineers. As for the adaptive cruise, I don't like it and don't use it.

    I've considered it

Definitely takes some getting used to, I didn't like it at first either because it will wait, wait, wait then slam on the brakes when someone jumps in front of you on the highway. The trick is to disengage it when that happens if you have room to coast or feather the brakes. Otherwise it works pretty well.

Rite rite. I guess the Adaptive cruise is the new set it and forget it. I just prefer the old way, and happy that I have that bypass option available to me.

Old dog here that's that's not hip on some of the new tricks. or better yet.. Willing to learn 'em.

This makes me glad I have a '17 without the mando TSS, haha. My wife's BMW has the lane keep assist, and I turn it and the auto start/stop BS off every time I drive it. Kind of annoying to have to do each time I get behind the wheel, but the car is super fun to drive so it doesn't bother me too much.

I think for most of these safety/convenience nannies, it depends on the vehicle and the engineering behind it. We had a Volvo XC90 several years back that had the adaptive cruise, auto high beams, surround view camera, etc. All of those were pretty awesome and worked well, and my favorite was the surround cameras. It had the lane keeping thing too that basically would drive the car when adaptive cruise was on, but I never really used it due to lack of trusting the computer to actually keep the car in the lane at speed. All said, cool technology IMO but kind of takes the fun out of driving sometimes.

I too am glad I didn't get an '18 I guess in retrospect. Granted the idiot proof stop aspect in theory would be great, especially in city driving!

Oh totally...It would be the only technology safety driven upgrade I'd buy in for...my parents and sisters SUVs all have it.

I have to agree with the annoying aspects of adaptive cruise control and lane departure tend to make the drives less enjoyable and more annoying with audibles and erratic brake and gas in the cruise control.

The LDA system is great when you are half asleep on a super long drive. But its a situational use tool. Same with the cruise.
