    I assume that you have an OVtune loaded ? If so which one ?
    Have you tried going back to a stock tune ( the original Toy tune for your ECU ) ?
    If if continues after that ....... it's tranny problem ?

    I dont use the sequential unless I'm off roading or towing. But you can feel the transmission downshift and when this happens I have counted the gears and most of the time it gets down to second which is usually what most ect automatic transmissions will shift to for smooth steady acceleration and only shift down into first under heavy acceleration or when towing but my truck for some reason trys to stay in 4th. I know this by counting the downshifts.

    My truck has over 67k. The tune im running now has probably close to 1000. Lotta driving . Cooper stmaxx 255 85 16. 33 thx premium stock gearing. Cruise all the time. I get alot of wind here in Canada it sucks so I see 4th alot but when i go opposite direction. 5th gear all day everyday.

    Automatic trans will keep an engine from stalling with the internal clutches and some times it feels like it is about to before it down shifts

    Not yet this is the reason I have purchased the ov tune ive been trying to get the software installed and running

    Putting s4 ovtune or not is just a gear limiter. It will shift normal all day everyday. It just won't go past 4th gear when it reaches it. You never can start in 4th.

    This is all from taking off at a complete stand still? You need to get a video of this and post. This is confusing as hell. Not sure how ur bouncing off the rev limit at 6k when redline is 7 now and also if you hit rev limit it will completely back off. Like a 2 second delay at least

    What ur experiencing is 100% stock tuning i had this many times when accelerating around a corner after slowing down etc. Ovtune has none of these issues. I thought you were tuned lol which was confusing me

    Yes usually in a very short yeild situation. I must have the original tune on here then cause my rev limiter is 6k but like I said instead of shifting it drops to about 55 then hits the limiter agian drops to about 45 then shifts to 2nd that is constant the down shift issue isnt everytime but enough to notice and acknowledge the issue

    Thats what I figured and the reason I purchased ov tune is because of what I read here and other reviews. I've been told it works but unfortunately out of all the people I know from my job and the local offroading community no one has any experience with ov tune or tacomas in general hell this is my first taco and we barely sell anything for tacos at Summit.

    Don't know, but this is what I see every time I roll to the intersection in 3rd and accelerating out. I drop close to 400 rpms on it.
    See attached. Last vertical line.
    Accelerator is applied and going from 28% to 32%
    Rmps at 1665, intake vvt at 26.
    Then Intake vvt goes to 53° and RPMs drop to 1350, accelerator at 29%.
    Note, 3rd gear, unlocked.

    Roger. I went out this morning and counted the upshifts. I am now happily educated, although it feels like there is a quick downshift to 1st when first accelerating from a standstill after a full stop, like it only gets down to 2nd I guess to avoid that hard decel to 1st as you say.

    Is the rpm dip short enough that it is obscured a bit by the line? It is tough to tell with the low resolution screenshot.

    Also what is going on with vehicle speed there. Assume you would have to feel it jerk a bit, right?
