I thought Toyota used special break-in oil like they did in the 60's??

maybe just change it every 130 to be on the safe side, those particles could grenade the engine

^^^^^^^^^^It’s always the ones that deny this that are really confused or into it. On the down low. They call this projecting.

At least these trucks aren’t as picky on oil as Audis...

Yup. Both still have the nascar symbol too, meaning you can run your vehicle at 200mph for at least 3 hours straight. It’s a pretty awesome rating.

I bought my 4.0L Tacoma with 120K. According to the previous owner it has had only mobil1 changes for the last 30K. I have used 5w-30 mobil1 and changed it every 3K since I have had it. It now has 140K. The most recent oil change I used royal purple because it was on sale at Wal-Mart. I plan to switch back to mobil1 for the next change. I've always been told the oil doesn't matter as long its a quality brand and correct viscosity.

Every 3k is a bit wasteful. You could run modern conventional oil longer with no issues. Brand name or not, you should easily be able to get 5k on synthetic oils. If you’re changing it every 3k, you’re simply wasting time and money.

Lol that's pretty funny. I know i could probably go longer between changes. I have a Tacoma, Camry, Celica, and Accord and between the 4, they have over a million miles but all run like new. I buy the oil and filters by the case to save money in the long run. I take good care of my vehicles but they are very reliable because of it.
