It really is one of the best, consistent, available bottles you can get for 60ish bucks.

thought it was the regular smoke wagon at first, then realized it was the uncut....maybe an apples/oranges, but it’s Friday and you are drinking good whiskey!

agreed 1920 is such a great pour, proof/taste/price, old forester nailed it on that one

Big boy pour of eagle rare. Also picked up 2 random bottles for the stash based on some bourbon guys at work. They recommend them for cheap everyday mixers. 22 bucks each for the bottles so figured would give them a try.

Naturally, the bottle has to be empty - but boiling water poured inside works great

Alright so I suck at these but here goes nothing...

Nose is very much filled with ethanol. A tiny bit of sweetness and you can almost smell the toasted bit, but still, ethanol.

Initial taste is very sweet. Cherry, kind of smokey but not in a traditional smoke kind of way. Very easy going in, tastes kind of thick and marshmellow-y. I had HH BiB last weekend and it kind of reminds me of that sort of initial taste. Different flavor profiles between the two but similar way of thick sweetness delivery.

On finish, you can tell it’s Elijah Craig. Very similar to their small batch, but you can also pick up the toasted bits.

I haven’t had a toasted barrel whiskey before and I actually had a little higher expectations for it. It isn’t bad by any means, but it’s not terribly complex either - I think the initial taste is better than the finish.
