I never liked Tire Pressure Sensors. l grew up using this instead. No batteries or sensors to ever replace. No lights to annoy me.

 

Then along came Ford and Firestone. Thanks for ruining it for all of us.

 

yea but people are to stupid and lazy now.

 

I still check mine the old fashioned way. I have trust issues with them, even though mine seem to work as of now.

I have a set of Vosla high performance bulbs on the bench to go into the truck tomorrow, along with finally building up a little pile of recovery gear. Not that I intend to go anywhere to need it but around here every truck is about expected to have a rope or strap on hand.

Especially with hurricane season upon us I’d rather have a strap to drag tree limbs out of the road than wait for the parish to get around to it.

 

Also, quite enjoying the Kicker Key 180.4 I dropped in with Infinity components to augment the factory radio. Not audiophile, but for the money and time investment well worth it.

Now I just need to resist this urge to stuff a Kicker Key 500.1 and an Image Dynamics ID10 subwoofer in the back of the truck. Even with the current amp and speakers, the system just can’t drive down low. Not worried about being loud like I was in my 20’s but having had really good systems in the past I can hear what’s missing.

Preemptively replaced headlight bulbs today, pulled two OEM Osrams out. They’ll go on the shelf for emergency spares. Now I’m wondering if these were replaced once or are the originals.

Don't know. I'm closing in on 5 and a half years and haven't replaced any bulbs yet

 

Just got back from an awesome bike ride with my 13 year old. Beautiful day here and was 62° this morning. Only going to be 80° for a high. That's outstanding for August around here.

Not sure if any of you all have any "Rail Trails" in your area. But we have a couple. Love to ride them. If you don’t know what they are....they're old railway right of ways that have been converted to walking/running/biking trials. Beautiful areas.....typically surrounded by old trees most of the way down. Benches and rest stops along the route. And if you're observant and know what you're looking for, you can see an occasional old rail road remnant here and there.

We had "Rail Trail" but people kept tripping on lifted wooden cross ties, the steel rails. The city had one person crack there head on the rails before they remove them and replace the trail with asphalt trails. Now we have bike paths on the boardwalk by the water.

From the storm/hurricane we got light wind and rain.

And yes....these trails are concrete. They just follow the old rail line. The particular one we rode today last saw service in 1980. The section that was converted was the last to have the tracks pulled up....less than 20 years ago....as that was rural farm land until about then.

At one end is a park. We sometimes take our bikes on the wooded trails that run through that. Lots of fun....and a good workout

 

The rail here last seen service in the early 80's. The train/trolley rails became costly with repairs so the city remove all of them. The city was planning for a high speed bullet train going through the city for a faster commute to Boston but that project went on hold.

The city converted the trolley rails into bike/walking path. Then the residents of the city starting hurting themselves and the rail became a liability. Then the city rip out the surrounding brick road and asphalt everything. Putting a end to the rails. Now we have painted lines throughout the city for a bike path. People are riding there bikes along side of traffic. Probably more of a safety issue now if a rider get strike by oncoming traffic.

 

I've seen sensors die and need replacement on other cars, which is expensive.
Not only is the tool that tests and calibrates them like $900, but each sensor itself is like $60.

So far thankfully mine have not died. Not sure if they tend to on Toyotas or not.

It only came on once before on a cold morning; sure enough, checked the pressures manually and one was abnormally low.
Spun the tire to inspect it and found a nail puncture; ended up repairing it and no warning since.
