there are alot of factors it just makes me miss drive by cable and pressure activated shift solenoids you may get less milage and put out more co2 but it felt like you had more control of the vehicle

Engine speed drops, vehicle speed increases. No gear shift or converter lockup state change. What am I missing?

What I’m getting at is your data imply torque converter input speed (engine speed) drops by a few hundred rpm, but torque converter output speed (measured by vehicle speed) does not drop. I guess really this is just a blip and vehicle inertia keeps the transmission spinning until the engine catches back up at its new timing operating state.

But why RPMs drop if you command more throttle?
Again. I'm rolling i to the intersection. I have a momentum..

O yea I wish I would have gotten the stick option when I bought mine but the only one they had on the lot was plain white. And blue is my favorite color so I went with it

Maybe its my imagination but it doesn't do that in S4. Definitely not on ECT. But then it may jerk into gear. Frickn Toyota lol

Selecting S4 does not mean you are in 4th..
We all know Toyota can't tune a horse buggy, but seeing ol' B03 stuff in "final" 2.0 make me wonder..

We know that throttle is not directly mapped to accelerator. You are not commanding more throttle, you are requesting more torque. The ECU has several knobs in addition to throttle it can turn to accomplish this.

Does fuel momentarily cut when the intake valve timing changes? Or is any engine power consumed to complete this task?

A TC is a fluid coupling, right. The input shaft and output shaft do not need to spin the same rpm. If, say fuel cuts, engine rpm will drop. But the trans rpm is not forced to drop instantaneously along with it because the two shafts are coupled only by fluid flow. The trans rpms would drop more slowly than the engine because there is more inertia in the vehicle than in the engine. Once fuel comes back on, engine rpm catches back up and begins driving the trans again.

That is nothing but a long winded guess.

Hey guys, I’ve been off this thread for awhile.
Quick question. I have 04B03 and I could have sworn that package was not available for the longest time and would require flashing to 04B04. I just checked on OvTunes site and it appears 04B03 is there. Just wanted to make sure I’m not missing anything. I thought there was a reason the tune wasn’t made for 04B03.

    thanks in advance!

    edit: with reference to 2.0.

This guy has a habit of looking at logs and coming to his own wrong conclusions.
I had to make some significant changes to 2.0 because is I'll informed posts caused quite a stir.

2.0 Final Premium Stock non-THX shifts fine for me (2017 04B04). But it really does seem to feel a bit anemic when I step on the pedal from a stop. I have to mash the pedal much more than I would expect in order to get rolling. Also when on the interstate I find myself gradually slowing down when cruising, if I don't make a conscious effort to keep that gas pedal mashed down.

Same. My pedal is mush. It all starts the same. Good tune, decently peppy and then after a bit back to short shifts and mushy pedal. It's infuriating. I'm ditching the Tacoma asap when the new tundra comes out. I'm so over this gutless turd.
