our bow season comes in Oct. 1st which is good. This Sat. is opening day for firearms (also known as the lottery:D) and the late archery season runs until Jan 4th. In between there we have one week of no season and 2 weeks of muzzleloader. No big complaints on our seasons from me. I like to bird hunt and ice fish if we get any ice, so I don't mind season going out in early Jan.

yeah, thats what im thinking too brotha. im thinking about taking my double blind that canuckinsc gave me and setting it up close to the creek bottom, where deer come outta the swamp........and the swamp is probably about 200 yards away...............may be a good spot. probably do that maybe next weekend and hunt that blind the week after or so. im thinking out loud, but it may work out better there.

swamp bucks....now we are talking. Look for a dry area in the swamp, and some what thick, that's were that big bad boy is hanging out.

I agree with hoosiertaco, in laying back for awhile. A couple years back I waited a couple days before hitting my spot, let everyone else do all shooting and making noise. That morning I went in, sat for 45 min and got my doe.,let it lay, 20 minutes after that nailed my buck. Decided to get to work on them.
Got them checked in, and got another doe tag, hit the woods again, got out of the truck, walked 40 to 50 yards and nailed another doe.
Once they feel a area is calm, they will stick to it. Keep and eye out for exit points, they know how to get in and get out if they are in a pinch.
    Just remember.....I'M THINKING about ya!!!!!!

you know it is..:D 4 and a wake up. Alot of friends around here have not had any luck, and the check stations are low . With the weather patterns they way they have been "no wonder" hopefully the rut will fall like I think it will.
As long as it stays somewhat cold, and maybe a light rain we should be good to go. Wife is praying about it already, so i'm not gone for a weeks at a time.
Heck...I still need to do someting with the head in the freezer. We will see, hey how much deer meat you all eat? reason I ask is I always get a freezer full, and I would like to give it to someone who will eat it. I will get it all taken care of (processed), just will need to unload some. I am out now, but Lord willing I will have enough to do my family plus other who want it.

never have a problem keeping us plenty, usually kill 3 or 4 for my family, thanks for the offer though. Offer stands in return. Don't hesitate to take one for the hungry. Search here to find a local place to take an extra deer. FHFH picks up the tab. http://www.fhfh.org/

Talked to some other hunters today, sounds like the chase for the does is on, and one guy said he seen a buck mounting a doe already. Probably means the very first mature doe in some areas may start coming 'in' this week.

Look on the bright side, you are still some what young. Wish I could help you with the job thing, to bad you not out this way. I know (very good friends with and a hunter) who has a pool company. Who could use some honest help.
At least the time in the woods, has cleared your head a little. Getting back to nature, or hitting the range always does it for me. STRESS FREE.
Hope things work out for the best.

Know what you mean, when we moved up here in 90, I left a trade skill job, starting all over was a bummer and down right depressing. Not being a spring chicken made it tough.
But it all worked out to the place I am at now. You will be back in the swing of things before two long. Hopefully you will find something close to home, believe you me I know that blows big time.
