    Hey gang,

Looking to visit Michigan around Labor Day. I'm dropping my wife off in Holland and then I was thinking about visiting the UP. Can anyone tell me some must see areas? I really don't know anything about the UP so please help a brotha out.

Everywhere! Lol. It's a bit out of the way, but I recommend High Rock Bay up near Copper Harbor. I love Marquette. You should definitely check out Kitch-iti-kippi and pictured rocks near Munising too.

Oh there will be some mods all right
I was literally just going to say Copper Harbor. Pictured rocks is great too. Porcupine mountains are great for a nice ride and a hike too.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
Tahquamenon Falls and Pictured Rocks. See the rocks from the water if you can. Kayak or power boat tours. If your interested in ships, Saulte Ste. Marie has a lock system the lake freighters have to use. Touristy stuff, Mackinaw Island, no cars, so a lot of walking around or carriage rides. In general, the UP is pretty good.

Thanks guys. If this happens it will be just me with my dogs, camping in my truck. That will limit what I can do a little but could still be a good time. Appreciate the tips.

If you want to make a couple of pit stops, lake charlevoix is my favorite lake in the state. You can rent a jet ski and ride it, great time. Also Petoskey is a REALLY cool city, it's worth at least taking a drive.

If your truck has 4x4 definitely should go there. Don't forget to deflate the tires!

Is this in the UP? Silver Lake on Google Maps is no where near the UP.

Hiking, camping, and visiting a few breweries would be great.

You definitely want to go to Marquette then! My favorite breweries there are Blackrocks, Ore Dock, and Barrel+Beam. Lots of mountain bike trails (you can hike). Presque Isle Park on Lake Superior is worth checking out. It’s a short drive, there are hiking trails and the views over Lake Superior are cool. Camping option - Rippling River Resort. They have everything from modern sites and cabins to rustic (pack your tent in). Have fun!

It looks amazing. I've never driven in any place like that. I see a lot of the vehicles in the pictures have a flag. Do they loan those out or do you have to bring your own? Looks like you can buy a pass in person when you arrive?
