    My home was market priced at land cost. So basically a tear down and build new. $8,000 water tap fee.
    $12000 sewer tap fee and eternal utilities bills. House, land, well, septic system bought for $35k

    Fuuuuuck

    For that much, you can secure a parking spot for 1 car in San Fran for about 5-6 years.

    It really depends. There's some survivor bias with old homes - if it's made it this far, it probably isn't horrible, assuming it's been maintained.

    And there are some horribly shitty new houses, you really have to do your homework.

    It's less Tacoma and more mod
    It's possible you could be safe either way as well since most folks are holding on to a house about 10 years right now

    Far from it.

    What is widely known by everyone though, including boomers, is that CA living is ridiculously overpriced compared to anything else :luvya:

    @Kwikvette
    I lived in Glendora, Ca.briefly many years ago. NE of LA IIRC.
    Every area has its pluses and minuses.
    Not to bad mouth California at all.
    It snows here occasionally. Winters are temperate for the most part. Summers may hit 90s July,-August.
    No earthquakes or wildfires (too wet).
    I guess I just don't get the attraction to California.

    Good start at Usu

    SAFETY ALERT: Wastewater from Four Residence Halls Detect Elevated SARS-COV-2

    Utah State University's wastewater monitoring for COVID-19 has detected elevated levels of the COVID-19 virus in wastewater samples from the following residence halls on the Logan campus: Rich, Jones, Morgan, and Davis. No other testing samples on campus taken this week show elevated levels of the virus. There are no reported positive tests for COVID-19 in these residence halls right now.

    Wastewater testing provides an early alert warning for the university to address potential cases and prevent the spread of the virus further. In response to this early detection system, USU is implementing the following response for the four residence halls affected.

    RESIDENTS BEING TESTED FOR COVID-19

    USU is working with the Utah Department of Health and the Bear River Health Department to organize testing for all 287 students who live in these residence halls to be done today and tomorrow. More details will be provided directly to the students in these residence halls. USU staff will be knocking on doors to make sure the residents know what to do and when they will be tested. All residents of Rich, Jones, Morgan, and Davis Halls must fill out the COVID-19 Questionnaire to ensure they receive academic accommodations, food deliveries, and other resources. Find the COVID-19 Questionnaire at: https://tinyurl.com/y2ehnzas.

    RESIDENTS MUST QUARANTINE

    As a precaution, residents in Rich, Jones, Morgan, and Davis residence halls must quarantine immediately from now until test results are returned, which may take up to 3-4 days. These students must stay in their room or suite, not attend class or interact with those outside their household unless absolutely necessary (such as for COVID-19 testing). USU has activated its COVID CARE Team to arrange for resources to affected students, including dinner deliveries for tonight (August 30). Students and parents with questions about housing should email https://www.usu.edu/housing/contact-us/.

    So, I loved living in Texas, but always hated the crazy humid summers. Granted I was only in Killeen/Ft. Hood area, I can't say much for the rest of the state. It's damn cheap to live even though property in Killeen has gone up with the construction of all the brick and mortar stores throughout the years.

    My dads property went up in value because of all that and he's been there for over 20 years now.

    Before that, there was South Carolina. Forget where exactly but I remember cooler temps, quieter neighborhoods, not many nice places to see as a teen. I'm sure as an adult things are much different but overall it was nice. My dad's renting out his second home that he has there.

    Southern California, San Clemente specifically, was probably one of the nicest areas I've lived in. It was stupidly expensive when I was there 10-15 years ago. Beach was within walking distance, tons of nice shopping centers, a short drive from Orange County or San Diego if you so desired.

    The weather and closeness to the ocean seems to keep most people here, having family here could add to that.

    Illinois? I can't say much for the rest of the state other than it was boring but I hated living and working in Chicago. I'm not talking "Chicagoland" either, I lived in the city. Never again, not even to visit.

    I'm not family oriented though, so when people bring up living in a different state, I always enjoy what someone has to say. Looking forward to the next state I'll end up living in.

    @cruiserguy what say you

    Worst part of South Carolina is Liquor laws and those tiny bottles.
    Little fuckers are impossible to hold onto after 5 or 6. Plus you cant get a good gulp or slug like from pint or 5ths
    :rofl::rofl::rofl::rofl:
    Far enough south for good winters.
    Far enough north not to get killed by hungry alligators, barely.
