@OVTune feel free to chime in of course with any wisdom you have regarding this if you feel inclined to do so.

For those of us waiting on catted pipes for our TT kits; sometimes I get tempted to say fuck it and ask for a catless kit since the wait time on the catted pipes continues to get extended indefinitely.

Mat, to clarify here, I'm not bitching, I'm not upset at you. This is purely me wanting to get the damn kit installed lol.

I wouldn't mind catless. Really all I give af about is not having a CEL and if I do have one, if I can turn it off without it causing me to fail an inspection when they read the OBD since I imagine that will turn the sensor readiness to "not ready" or "unavailable" or whatever. In Mat's email to me when asking if I wanted a catless kit right away or if I wanted to wait for catless, he stated, "We do not expect our cat-less versions to produce a check engine light either." But if it does appear, I would like to not have it there all the time. I vaguely remember something being mentioned about the ability to turn off a CEL in vF but I imagine this would violate the intended warranty as an unapproved modification to the tune.

So, asking for opinions from anyone with some knowledge here that can help me out:

I've heard of o2 sensor spacers, idk if that would solve my potential issue?

And then I'd be diving back into the deep end on an appropriate y-pipe since catless DP with that pinched OEM y-pipe and the unmonitored cats seems silly (but nevertheless an option), although I expect the Doug Thorley pipes are a solution there since their y-pipe has resonators.

    Discuss.

I would also be curious to see who opted for catless. It doesn't sound like many people went that route.

I was also thinking about going catless but it doesn't seem to be speeding shipping up at all. Seems as if we are also waiting on oil pans.

You know what, I'd forgotten about that. Slipped my mind that the CNC oil pans are also not in Mat's hands yet.

I heard back from my fabricator, they are saying 15 days for catted to be finished.
    Since minimum order was 30x..

CNC pans are like a week out, if that.

    Thanks for the update Mat.

Is the tune completed? I have a base kit with no additional fueling pre-ordered.

If I end up emailing you and say screw it, I'll take catless pipes, will I have a MT tune in hand to go along with it when the kit is delivered? Or will I be holding out for that as well, and receive it potentially at a later time when I could have also ended up holding out for the catted pipes?

All I care about is not having a damn CEL. There are MT guys (@M1Awolf for the honorable mention) with the N/A dump tubes and the appropriate 2.0 dumptube tune who are still struggling with having the CEL on. So if I can avoid that with catless pipes, then screw it, that interests me. But it won't matter if I opt to go that route and still can't run the truck without the appropriate tune in hand.

I'm not bashing you Mat, I really promise that I am not. These wait times are thoroughly out of your control and I understand that. I'm just tired of waiting and so I'm looking for solutions that still give me what I ultimately want: boost without a CEL on my truck without anymore long lead time.

Because sadly I'm also close to just saying screw it and not boosting the truck at all.

Tune is completed. so not really any wait on that.
Not having a CEL, and passing emissions is 2 different things.
Not having a CEL / light on the dash is easy to fix.
Passing emissions, by way of checking the ECU / readiness / etc, is completely different.

Originally catted downpipes weren't even going to be possible. I am glad they are going to be. Part of that wait time is from everyone wanting to switch.
I have 25 sets of catless right here...but shortly after getting them we got word that catted became possible. So rather than force you guys to have the catless, I made it optional, with the extended wait.

So realistic time frames for kits to ship are about 2 weeks for catless and 4 weeks for catted?

Im currently running his catless n/a dumps with no CELs, leaks or issues of any kind. I opted for the catless with my kit because of this reason. I am in a smog exempt county however and will never have to smog my truck again, so there is no worry with that for me. Otherwise id be in meso's boat of having to revert every couple years

You aren't messing around, Meso! Love it. Looks great to me, like everything should have no issue surviving the heat the turbos will dish out

Right. I actually wrapped each section/component in their own “enclosure”. So if I had to access anything later on it would be a mess of peeling everything off. Also, each wire loom was wrapped individually and gave ample slack. Shouldn’t have any issues with chafing.

Thanks! Yeah it’s a little overkill but better safe than sorry. Right behind the drivers side downpipe is FUEL line and BRAKE line/booster. Those will NOT mix well with high temps lol

No shit... not just gains you could get robbed of by heating up the fuel AND brake lines at the same time. I appreciate you doing this first a LOT. I plan on going this route once I save up enough and its nice to know everything that has to go in to a quality install, not just okay the turbos are XXXX and now I'm boosted.
