I really dont want to spend 35 on a used sensor for a plastic piece that goes over it but I am fixing everything to get insurance money for a diminished value claim and really want to finish this up. There has to be someone on here that knows the part # or something with a clean fit

I have 2 of my sensors looking for the other two haha. I've been running without them, and without the blind spot monitoring system

I bought some sensors from China on Amazon for like $10 took the sensor out (since my sensor was still good) and just used the clip.

Yeah they fit perfectly. I can’t remember the part number since it was so long ago let me see if I have it laying around in my tool box. I think I bought the ones for the rav4

I bought two replacements from fleabay for far far less than Toyota wanted...had a buddy from this forum help me pop it in; not too difficult...I think the sensors cost about 10 bucks if I remember correctly...

It was definitely on Fleabay aka Ebay...

I may have posted the link in this thread...I remember buying two because they weren't expensive and in case I broke one during install...I may have the other spare in my truck still but I'm now thousands of miles away from it, otherwise I'd sell it to you for a song if you needed it...

Should not be hard to find on ebay by searching for Tacoma Bumper Sensor or something similar...

    Did a little light research.

thanks to @svermilyea , the ones he linked allow you to easily pull of the plastic ring that breaks way too often and put them easily on your OEM sensors (if you’re like me and don’t want to lose any potential functionality b/t OEM and $14 Amazon part). They come off super easy just be gentle, and pop right in perfectly flush to the tab on the OEM sensor

I broke my retaining clip a few months ago while taking the sensor out to replace a scuffed bumper cover, and like others was surprised/appalled that you can't just get the (very fragile) clip without buying an entirely new and very expensive sensor. I bought one of the knockoff sensors off of Amazon for around $15 and decided just to put the entire thing in and see what happens. It did work well enough to at least not cause the truck to having dash warning lights pop up anymore when enabling them, but I found out they did not work very well. I basically had to stand right next to it to it to get it to trip, whereas the OEM ones detect stuff from many feet away. I'd only use the actual knockoff sensor if you don't care and just want to get the dash warning to go away. Otherwise just buy it for the retaining clip and throw the sensor away.

That was the point of the post, bought the cheap one strictly for the retaining clip and it fits perfectly. The pic is showing the OEM denso sensor with the cheap plastic clip from the $14 Amazon one on it. I was surprised how well it fit. I didn’t really want to add that garbage amazon sensor to it and wanted to keep OEM functionality. I agree it’s pretty frustrating they won’t just source the cheap plastic clip from the factory but I’m guessing it’s cause they want more $$$

I can confirm that the Amazon clip will fit your original sensor .. I just bought the whole sensor for $18 from Amazon and removed the clip and installed it on the OEM sensor .. so the left is for the original part with the original clip and the one in the right shows the Amazon sensor without the clip and the middle is the installed clip on the OEM sensor .
