Long beds seemed to always in short supply, at least they were when I was looking. Dealers told be they didn't keep as many on lot because they sold more short beds.

Personally, I like the looks of the Sport much better, like it's scoop, don't like the OR black fender flares.
To me the Sport is the best of both worlds, drives a like a luxury SUV on the road and will still handle off road like a champ.

In Canada for the longest time they did not sell the Offroad with double cab, only the Sport. So thats what everyone uses offroad or on, it doesn't matter.
If you needed more capability you put in a locker, or bought the Access Cab which did come in the off-road package. Check out Top Gear, those guys are offroading with miata convertibles in the middle eastern desert.
The Sport 4x4 will go a lot of places, BUT today if I was buying I would get an Offroad.

Led headlights, dual climate jbl stereo "easier for mento change out stuff with the wiring already in place, heated leather seats are some of the very minimal features I am looking to have as a requirement for me anyway.

Crazy how emotional people get over this topic. I like the scoop but I like the black fenders and locker more. Who cares?

We are all on the same damn team. We’re on a Tacoma specific forum for crying out loud. Every Tacoma ever made is a very good truck.

    Work in progress...
I recommend you try them both. Buy the one that feels better, to you on the road. Many people like the feel of the Off Road on pavement because of the softer ride. The Sport is a bit firmer on pavement and there are people that actually prefer that ride. So, since I am not you, I suggest you test drive both. And get back to us with your opinion of the two.

Just my opinion here. The locker yes it's invaluable when you need it. The rest are electronic toys that help you when you don't have other options.

The Sport has the "auto LSD" which applies brakes to the spinning wheel and gets the wheel. This will work "most of the time", but it's not quite the same as a locked axle. Why is it "auto" when I have to engage it manually???

Me, personally I would go with the TRD Off Road. I love having a locker when I need it. It's a bit more but it keep's it's value better and you will get more money when you sell it later. Also I believe the new one have a front and rear facing cameras - which lets you see what your going to get stuck on.

The Off Road has the same "simulated" LSD and the Selectable Locker is in addition to that feature.
