Tacoma pulls hard with Lower Pro Tires

I have a 2007 DCLB that I placed 22" wheels with Sumitoma Tires. I noticed because of the wider tires and light Tacoma body that it pulls to the crown or terrain of the road very easily - sometime making it hard to control. Is there anything that you can put on the truck to eliminate this pull so much? the measurement of the wheels are: 305/40R22 - 114H

I would go and have it aligned.

 

Maybe steering damper? Mine does the same thing, not as bad as what you're describing but it pulls pretty bad at times. My alignment checked out fine also.

 

Alignment is just fine.... I think it may be something with the steering damper and the tread of the tires gripping the road. Was hoping to get some good feedback - thanks!

Does it always pull the same direction? Or is it terrain dependent? A steady pull alway the same direction (e.g. left) - That could be the alignment or the tires.

 

If you have an extremely grippy tire, maybe an alignment, but not at the factory specs, would help. Something more similar to a set-up you'd see in a sports car. You'd have to talk to someone who really knows there stuff to recommend a new setting, if it would even help at all.

 

Ditto, when I stated get an alignment I mean get one that suits the characteristics of your vehicle.

 

Mine followed the ruts in the road with the stock rugged trails. After getting a 2" lift I had it alighned a few times and it got better but was still very noticable. If I drove close to the center line it veered to the left and when driving closer to the shoulder it veered right. Going down freshly paved roads it tracked straight as an arrow. After getting new tires (E rated BFG A/T's) the problem is now pretty much gone. I not sure but it seems either the higher psi (40 front/36 back) or the stronger sidewall helped.

 

go to a normal rim size for a tacoma

 

If it's constantly pulling to one side you're alignment is most likely out.

-low pros don't flex much compared to stock or offroad tires.
-if they're "high performance" they will flex even less
-if your truck follows the grooves in the road too much,
your tires are too wide and stiff for the size of the truck.
There isn't much of a fix for it.
I had the same thing happen (low key) in my first car - honda accord coupe with wide lo pros on it
