Who gets tired of hearing that the TRD Sport 4x4 isn't off road capable? It's a Toyota truck!!

I used to believe some of this, really laying it on thick. Until the wifey and I paid off our debt. It took 2 years of monthly difficult sit down planning type talks and budgeting. We had some rough times, almost didn't make it. We did the Dave Ramsey set up, we did't go full cool-aide, we did it on our terms. I can not tell you how amazing it feels to have no credit card debt. You really don't realize how much money you make until you get to keep it. Until you stop making other people rich and put in your pocket. I will say its not easy and we are a bit odd when it comes to spending money. My wife does not need anything expensive. She likes to shop and buy make up stuff, but nothing crazy. I don't really drink or go out, occasionally I like a good single malt Scotch. Most of what I make goes to the kids and saving for retirement. We have monthly budgets and work within them.

I guess I'm trying to say not everyone lives that life, and whatever comfort it brings believing that is not always healthy. Many people sacrifice and work hard for what they have.

The question you have to ask yourself, "would I rather have a Sport with an Off Road rear end or an Off Road with a Sport hood." ...well punk, what is it?

I was so close. I bought a ring, then paid off the student loans, then bought a truck, then paid off the ring. Still have to buy a house yet. Early real-life sucks for trying to be debt free.

Hang in there. Every single sacrifice you make now will make your financial life better/ easier in years to come. I only wish we started doing this at a younger age. You got this!

Thanks. We're also trying to live while we're young and so we adventure a lot. (Thus the Tacoma lol). But it's not impossible!

sounds like us. Everyting paid for except the truck. Considered paying it off as well but will continue payments. I could afford to do more with the truck but try and keep it to what we think we need

Well that is of course up to you. We typically have a vehicle for 15-20 years and 250k miles. Would we like to get new cars? Sometimes yes but we are usually happy with what we get. The only exception was the first Tacoma it didn't do what we needed so it didn't stay long

Every time i've told myself this is the car i'm holding on to for awhile I get bored and move on to something else. My only saving grace is I like old shit that can be bought with cash.

8-9 years is still pretty good. I was commuting 65 miles one way foe about 10 years. My daily is a 2008 Scion XB with 250k on t now. I haven't made that commute for the last year and a half but still drive the car. Commute now is only 10 miles one way. It will stay with me until it expires and it is fun to drive. We bought my wife a new RAV in '14 and it still doesn't have 50k on it yet.

For me it just depends on how reliable it ends up being and what the rust does to it. So far so good!

I'm not going to talk about rust as I have been very lucky so far with all the salt they use around here

Here they use it like it's a religion. Go farther up north and they use it less and there's more grip. Kind of odd how that works.
