Knewscum will not be deterred from signing any bill. The California Legislature is stacked with super majorities. They have the ability to completely gut bills, remove the language, rewrite them, and pass them along without consideration or debate, and send them off to the governor.

 

Next state over checking in. We go camping in the eastern sierras a bunch / mammoth area. What are the laws regarding having a handgun camping. They seem pretty confusing. I have a go fast camper - is that considered a residence for gun purposes ? I have read that it needs to be in a locked container while traveling then once at camp it is treated as a temp residence.

Is this correct ?

 

When actively camping, fishing, hunting you are fine although you cannot generally carry in State or National Parks (some conditional exceptions). You are not fine while away from your camp or traveling to your hunting or fishing spot. You are likely not fine while hiking.

 

They're not horrible. My trigger was further forward than most, so the reach was a little long, but it's not that bad.

Disclaimer: I'm not a lawyer, I don't even play one on TV. But I did have a CHP officer on the stand for 20 mins one time.

As far as I know (see disclaimer above) a camper/tent is considered a domicile. In Cali you can legally carry on the private areas of your residence i.e. house and fenced areas. So that would limit you to the actual camper & tent but not the camp ground because the camp ground is a public area (not fenced or private). Areas of BLM and National Forest are federal land and have their own rules as well. You can call the local BLM/Forest office and ask them about the rules.

Do not bring any California AWs (aka AK/AR variants or anything that looks "evil") into the state, even under lock and key. That is bad thing and jail time is possible. Full capacity magazines will be an add on charge if they want to charge you with something else. Again, probably best to leave the toys at home and bring reduced capacity magazines if you are visiting and plan to shoot.

The reality is there is nothing out there, you will be fine, keep your shit locked up avoid the problems and they will need a warrant to go through it. And you don't need to

Long shot but does anyone know where I can find some lead-free 223 or 556? Heard it’s hard to find. Have a hunting trip coming up, looking for any shops from Walnut Creek to Manteca and all cities in between.

It depends on the configuration. A stripped lower is still cheap if you can find one. A standard trigger, barrel, fore end and sights will bring much less than a JP Enterprises tricked out AR.
