I had a dilemma , i wanted a bedrack that i could use for my overland gear, my mountain bike and most importantly to carry sheetmetal due to my bed being jacked.

As you know a standard size plywood thats 4foot wide wont fit flat on the bed. I designed this setup so that the crossbars could be mounted on any of the three position on the mounts and the mount has four bolt positions for bolting to the utility tracks. They can also be moved easily if you need to load a washer/dryer etc. Fits with some bed covers as long as they are flush or below the bed sides

You can flip the brackers over if you prefer a lip so you habe support. Both ends have tighdown hardpoints. You can install a ditch light into the bracket holes also that arent used.

You can adjust how low materials cam sit in the bed. I recommend they sit bellow the rear window line so you dont smash it.

The rack has tracks so you can install quick fists etc to hold shovels, fishing poles etc.

    Made from 1/4" 6061 Aluminum

That must be a small kayak if you’re hanging it off the back. My last kayak was something like 16’ 3”.

You can drill a hole on either end to allow the carriage bolts to drop in then slide down the track. That's how a couple of the rack manufacturers.
That's kinda like some M-lok. I like the ingenuity in this it's something completely different on the market and can allow for all sorts of mounting and carrying things

On the contrary, its a very functional rack. The cross bars sit above the top of the bed edge. If you are carrying plywood fip your bracketd over so the martial sits bellow the window line. As shown there is 17" worth if clearance . Also the rack is adjustable, you can slide it fwd of you need to load a washer or dryer were as other racks you need ti fully remove them

I realize this is an old thread, nice job on the cross bars. Have they worked out as you hoped?
