NEW KIT: Cab Mount Relocation Kits

No problem, just hope to save someone else the troubleshooting in case this happens to them. I guess you could weld the entire mount higher up to compensate, but I would still swap out the bushings 100%.

 

@MESO....which one did you end up using?

ENS 9-4101 or ENS 9-4102?

I think that's the same universal one that everyone has been using for the radiator mount as well

 

Not at all trying to question your install skills but how sure are you this wasn't due to improper installation? i.e. placing a jack on the body and making sure the body was the same distance from the frame as stock during installation? Did the clearance change over time or was it slightly smaller immediately after install?

 

@MESO did you use a certain torque spec? And did you grease at all when you put in the new bushings?

I have runnin4tacos version of this and have been battling the low speed creaks. They redid their kit with a nylon nut so he sent me new hardware with new bushings. I used some silicone grease on them this time. I don’t think my body is hitting the frame, but I know these bushings are 16mm thick like alpine. Don’t know the durometer though. Might be looking into these energy bushings.

 

So I just bought the cab mount relocation kit from AD. What’s going on with the bushings?

Should I purchase one from energy suspension like Meso did?

Can you post a picture of the bottom of your cab mount where it is welded to the frame? Im curious how high it was welded.

So I know this may be a fairly old post, but hopefully someone still chimes in;
After the 9-4101 bushings, do you reuse the factory body bolt, or the new bolts provided??
How much play is between the 9-4101 brass collar and the bolt?? Thanks in advance. Just asking before I throw this on.

Just ordered a set of these relocation mounts for my 2nd gen - also ordered the energy suspension bushings just in case.

 

Can't go wrong. You now have the ultimate kit. The bushings fit like a glove, and shouldn't have any wobble. Now all I need is someone to weld it up. Been with this kit fir over a year now...

 

Has there been evidence or tests around the relocation causing a weaker area and allowing the tire to smash into the cab / your legs?

probably...maybe.... id be more worried bout the shotgun shell powered air bag blowing up in ur face first.... then a the overall crash if thats what you mean, the original mount i suppose could stop the tire but usually these trucks have the cab almost be like a shell and everything else is intended to crumple.
The relocation bracket should be fine.
curious if that answers ur question.
