There are a few 1st gen DCLBs around but they are custom. OPs got to measure the bed for final verdict it it's a 5' or 6' bed.

There are 1st gen 4 door Prerunners (2wd). They are built on the 4x4 frame but no 4x4 drivetrain.

Did you measure cross corners to get the 6'4" measurement?

OK I just measured my bed, from the start of the bed (by the cab) to the tail gate it is 75" (6.25 feet). Xtra cab

Bed is full of gear, coolers, Red and Yellow fuel tanks, bins.
I measured from front top rail to top of tailgate. Not diagonally.

Diagonally is the word I was looking for lol, I knew there was a better way to describe that.

Yeah I finally measured mine the same way and got slightly over 6 feet. The double cabs should be seeing slightly over 5 feet, I initially thought they were only a half foot shorter but it's actually closer to a full foot shorter according to specs online

Oh yeah, we haven't really been happy with it. It took a dump on a colleague of mine in the field. I sent it back and they "repaired" it, and sent it back. Then the exact same thing happened again the 1st time we tried using it, so I sent it back again, and this time they sent me a new one. If it breaks again, I think will set it on fire, *then* send it back.

We have a few Solinst tapes we use and those are great, but none of them were long enough for some sites. We kinda gambled on the In-Situ because we are happy with a bunch of their other gear; pressure transducers and stuff...

Cheap stop watch and drop a ball bearing down the hole.
    Problem solved

Wow, you guys know your stuff. To answer some questions:

    1. Checked, and it does have SR5 badges.
    2. Number of springs: I count three, plus a big fat overload *on bottom* of the three.
    3. It does have elect windows/doors, cruise, variable wipers and sliding rear window.

Now that I see the picture of the long bed truck above (post #17), I think mine must be a short bed (measures about half an inch from rear wheel trim to front edge of bed!).

We're also pretty good about hijacking threads... :anonymous:

Yeah, it's definitely the "short bed", although as discussed, that designation is kinda pointless since there was only one bed length for the 1st gen doublecabs. Toyota started the long beds with the 2nd gens, although I don't really know which year that started.

The SR5, DLX, LX, Base, and all that are definitely confusing, and don't always make sense. Strange that your dealer paperwork says DLX.

What you have is basically the top end model, except for the Limited, which can have other things like leather seats and a sunroof (iirc).

Basically, you can think about the SR5, DLX, TRD and all those option packages like meal deals at Burger King: There is a basic set of stuff those packages usually come with, but you can always order off the "secret menu" too

That explains why I passed on the sales incentive when I purchased my SR5. I didn't want cruise control or electric locks and windows that came on the SR5 DLX package.
