You should remove the hood. That holds a lot more heat.

They have no value other then to dress up your engine, an reduce noise.. As a side effect they hold in heat... Which is why it’s sitting in my garage on a shelf.. First world issues.. lol

    :p

In TW-speak: Is there any unmolested part on the Taco? There's mods to everything from the frame to sheet metal to just about every other bit. This lame cover (in my words) is hardly an exception, esp for a minimalist.

I am also somewhat of a minimalist, but also practical.

If I take that engine cover off, I wouldn’t throw it away, so it would be one more thing that I would have to find a spot for to store.

Under the hood of my truck would be the perfect place.

    Thanks for the translation btw.

Exactly what I was going to mention...but i can see the benefits. It would be interesting to take temperatures under and then remove the cover and do it again. But the the hood may get some discoloration or maybe not...

I know that feeling. My crawl space and garage have quite the collection including some parts from my last vehicle that I need to recycle.

But I think Toyota would also do it for estethics...after all it's factored into the cost that we pay for anyway.

We should all take them off until Friday.
Then this thread would be home.

Only if you wear it as a hat?

It’s good camouflage for the tinfoil, don’t you think?

For some reason I think it’s a thing for that engine. My IS350 has almost the same cover on it, same basic 2GR under the hood.

Soon you'll see "Engine Cover Upgrade" - $1,500 on the dealer accessory sticker.

LOL--- somehow this post pissed off a bunch of people. Funny thing is cars have been around for 100 years without plastic covers--- The insulation looking layer on the underside is apparently a 'fire-blanket' in case your taco decides to go up in flames. What an innovation :anonymous:

My opinion: Do whatever the hell you want with your taco, it's yours.

Definitely. I have a very nice fitting tinfoil hat that I pull out on occasion. Helps with the chemtrails and esp the 5g.
