Hit this place as you head north. You will be be near the Betsy river when you make the trek. Salmon season will be in full swing.Annotation 2020-08-31 110108.jpg

You can buy them at the park, but you have to have one.

Posting here first and not on marketplace because the cost of shipping makes it pointless to sell and ship these, but I have these stock takeoff manifolds and ypipe with cats from my 2nd gen (2015) if anyone is interested. Only 40k miles on them. If I cant sell them semi-locally than they'll be going to the scrap yard. Looking for $100 for everything if picked up in Eaton Rapids. Will meet halfway up to an hour for the extra cost of gas added in. Going to Silver Lake Dunes Saturday if anyone in that area wants them.

Manifolds will fit 2012-2015 with air injection but can be used with block off plates for prior years.

Marquette is my happy place. Never tried Barrel + Beam. We tried Ore Dock once but it just didn't have the same atmosphere as Blackrocks. (We also felt like we were cheating).

To add to what was already said, you'll have to have a way to mount the flag to your front bumper too.

My family have cabins in Rapid River, we usually stay in the UP for a week at a time. Gives us the opportunity to make multiple trips to Marquette. ;) Variety is good, sometimes we pick the brewery based on the food truck! LOL.

I have picked a bad time to visit I think. All the campgrounds are full. I've got to drop my wife off in Holland tomorrow, then I need a place relatively close by to camp. The nearest campground I'm finding is Newaygo State park with only 2 sites left. It doesn't look that nice.

Any suggestions for primitive spots within 90 minutes or so of Holland?

There are a lot of rustic campgrounds around Baldwin - maybe try Clay Banks.

That looks promising. I'm guessing there aren't a ton of people out there? What's your bear activity like? Assuming I can lock food in the truck at night and be ok?

There are bear around, but you should be fine locking food in the truck (that’s what I usually do). Have heard of bear going into one of the campgrounds on the Pine River this summer. I’m not sure how many people you’ll find out this weekend - holiday weekend and the start of salmon season. Campgrounds near the river could be busy. The link I sent should also show other campgrounds in the Huron-Manistee National Forest. Something should be open (especially rustic)!

If you can make it a little bit north to the tippy dam recreational area, there's a ton of rustic campgrounds in that area Yes there are some baer activities and there are some quite large ones that I've seen firsthand, but lots of places to camp there.

    Hey MI crew,

Native grand rapids resident here who lives in houston now..i decided to escape the heat and humidity and hurricanes and spend a few weeks up here.. so i'm in a similar situation as @FirstGenTundra

Looking to go camping and wheeling on the weekends, saw some great suggestions above. I have my RTT and mtb with me too. i definitely want to try the SALT FREE dunes at silver lake! I hate taking my truck on the dunes in galveston due to the salt! Anyone wanna go on Sat 12th?

Super last minute and unfortunately i think everything will be booked since its labor day weekend, but i was thinkin to find someplace to camp sunday and labor day. Wouldn't mind going somewhere in upper LP like traverse city or petosky area but it looks like nasty weather rolling thru sunday night. Marquette would be awesome but too far for just 2 days. Any suggestions around st. ignace area or a little north? Looks like they are going to miss the rain and storms from there north and its still a manageable drive.

I am residing in wyoming now saw a few of you mention you're in the area, honk if you spot me!

Here’s a screenshot from Trailforks, lots of trails up that way. VASA in Traverse City (lots of great breweries in TC), or head up to Bellaire for Glacial Hills and Shorts Brewing. If you stay a little bit south, the Big M on M-55 between Manistee and Wellston.

I'm currently at Coolwater on the Pine Campground in Wellston. I had a hell of a time finding any place to camp. I went to Silver Lake dunes yeaterday and it was absolutely crazy. This is only my 2nd time to Michigan(first time was Detroit). I must say it's nice here. People are friendly and there seem to be endless outdoor activities. I hope you were able to come over and find a place to camp.

Yeah, you have to book super early if you want to get campgrounds on any holiday weekend, especially up north and in the UP.

Thanks those look like amazing places to try out!! I will try them out when i get up in that area! I really wanted to go this weekend but the weather discouraged me so sadly no camping but i have hit the trails locally every day.

Glad you found a place. My folks live here so luckily i have a place to stay but my goal is to be inside as little as possible in my stay! How long will be here for? Wanna go to silver lake again on Sun? I am going to post a new thread for a group event as the weather looks to be perfect that day.

We were just at Silver Lake Sand Dunes on Monday. Just got home last night. There's been a lot of rain this week so it wasn't as crowded as Labor Day usually is. My son just bought 10 acres about 7 miles from Silver Lake so now I have a place to stay any time I want to head over that way (I'm in the Detroit area). You do see some of the coolest rigs out there!

Only saw one other taco tho, a 3rd gen limited stocker, and only 1 tundy.. Tons of heeps tho..
