I have one of these I use all the time (same idea, different company).

Optimus 8019743 Crux Weekend HE Cook System (Non-stick) Cook Systems https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01M16WOF4/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_api_i_XpLtFbH83XMZ3

I haven’t bought it yet, but a lot of people use these so you don’t have to buy the fuel canisters.

    https://www.coleman.com/all-camp-ki...ies-compact-dual-fuel-stove/col_3000003654_pr

if you want something cheap that’s still good, my dad has this one. It’s on a lot of the “budget camping stove” gear lists

Etekcity Ultralight Portable Outdoor Backpacking Camping Stove with Piezo Ignition

    Bam, great suggestions.

I like those bottom 2 if not the jetboil. The Optimus you linked is about $30 more than the jetboil.

The coleman is real appealing cause I could use the unleaded gas from my jerry can.

/e: Oh, but the coleman is $65 bucks from Walmart. Hmm.
/e2: I've decided to go with the jetboil. Got a 15% off code from them and free shipping.

    I ahve
I have one of those cheap ones and it is pretty nice and easy as well but you can tell it is pretty flimsy.... I would just spend the money for the jetboil

My truck camping stove is the Camp Chef Everest 2: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B004S3HDBO/

I freaking love it. Sturdy, hot, legit.

I use an MSR Whisperlite International as my backpacking stove. Isobutane or camp fuel, it'll burn just about any fuel and it's possible to actually cook on it unlike a Jetboil.

    https://www.amazon.com/MSR-WhisperLite-International-Multifuel-Backpacking/dp/B005I6OWEG/

My experience with the Jetboil line is that unless you have a bunch of specific expensive accessories, a Jetboil isn't good for anything other than boiling water.

Thats what jetboil (and rocket stoves in general) is designed for, to boil water quickly. For things like mountain house meals, coffee, oatmeal, etc.

I know lol. I've owned a number of isobutane stoves including a Jetboil. My experiences with my MSR stove have been so much better for versatility. It's a bit heavier as a backpacking stove, but canister stoves also don't work well, if at all, below about 20 degrees. Ask me how I know.

Jetboil is a quality stove, but the cheapo canister stoves are just as good in a lot of cases. I'd get one where the tank is on a hose though. Having all that weight up high makes me nervous.

Have you used an MSR before?

Well, as mentioned in my post, it was mainly for my percolator. Setting up a fire for it and keeping it going takes too much time for me. However, I have a small cast iron that I can see it cooking small meals unless someone can tell me it doesn't work. I don't plan on backpacking or anything.

Eventually I'll grab a camp stove like you linked. But right now, just need something small and affordable like a jetboil.

    Roommate has a whisperlite himself.

    Lady, please.

I love me a fire. Takes too long for coffee though.

When/where was this though? Tires look like the Falkies, so must been recently. Unless I'm completely blind.

Definitely. That monument is really well done and has some interesting historical quirks. There was a docent hanging out there that night and we chatted with him a bit about the sphinxes and the 1400 lb door leading to the elevator.

I still need to go into the museum though. That'll be an experience for sure. I did the Imperial War Museum in London a few years ago and came away amazed at how awful WWI was. It gets overshadowed by WWII but some of the stuff that happened was far worse.

WWI was an atrocity. Situations of French soldiers charging in lines against machine gun fire while wearing the same outfits they wore for Napoleon... Yikes.

I found WWI fascinating when I listened to Dan Carlin's Blueprint for Armageddon. Give it a listen to, it's entertaining and enlightening.

WWI smashed together new, powerful, and sometimes awful technologies (mustard gas, airplanes, etc) with old school fighting techniques.

I'll add it to the list. Thanks!

    I got one.

Despite going snorkeling twice with it on, it doesn't actually appear to collect much mud/debris at all, despite popular belief

    We typically avoid water

He thought I wouldn't be into the idea but our diff has taken a lil bit of a beating in the past, so I'm on board

The truck has been absolutely spoiled this year
