Nice! The very rare Nisssn 2000GT from the mid 1960’s. Only made for three years with limited production. Body lines influenced from Jaguar E-Type cars. No wonder he was so secretive, it’s well over a million dollar car today. Funny you said that, I lived in San Diego for 25 years and swore I saw a white one driving down Adams Ave. but he escaped me being able to get close to it. I’d say that was around 2006’ish.

The predecessor to the 240Z car. I had a white 1972 240Z that I built up as a street weapon. Fun car, wish I never sold it. It was stolen in San Diego. When I got it back I was too depressed to continue on with it and parted out the body from the race built motor and sold them separately. Dumb thieves took the wheels, stereo, radar detector and all personal belongings inside but didn’t touch the just recently race built motor with obvious dual down draft Webber carbs. When found the idiots had jacked it up took the wheels off and the. Just dropped it to the pavement. The Brakes were bent as was the dual exhaust mated to a 6 into 2 header. They also wrecked the nose of the car.
    Ahhh...depressing memories.

Love the first goat, the 1964. I drive this one route through the mountains of Colorado weekly. One day I’m driving by and here’s a 1965 GTO sitting outside this desolate barn. No house to walk up to and talk to the owner. This car wasn’t there prior. I took this photo in hopes of talking to the owner to see if it was for sale. I drove back by three days later and it was gone. This was two years ago and I haven’t seen the car since. Looked like a true survivor car, all original, even the paint. Just needed a total resto.

So many years ago 1986, not sure. I lucked out in getting those. I had my motor in the shop being built. The mechanic calls me up and says he’s got an old lady that came in the shop and had this dual Webber down draft set up on her Z and she wanted stock ones because she had problems keeping them in sync. He said he could fix that for me and do an even switch mine on to hers and vice versa with no money exchange. I was hesitant at first knowing I had the good stock carbs for 1972. The 1973 stock carbs were apparently crap comparably. After the switch my mechanic built a mechanical linkage system instead of a cable actuated one which was the culprit of them going out of sync. Sure enough that linkage system worked flawlessly and I never had an issue with them going out of sync.

That was a Toyota 2000GT. I know because I posted it.

At the same time, however, there was a Nissan 2000GT that looked more like an early Celica.

Which early on was on El Cajon Blvd. in La Mesa. I used to deal with them on occasion.

I knew you knew it was a Toyota. I was asking Dirtjunkie, who identified it as a Nissan.

Good catch boys, it is a Toyota. What was the car that preceded the 240Z? And don’t say the Fairlady Z. There was one that was similar to the the Toyota.

Sorry I missed what you were asking. No, I had my motor built at Metric Motors in Colorado in 1986. Shortly after I moved to San Diego. During my Z ownership time in SD I knew of Z-Whizz who were first located on El Cajon Blvd. in La Mesa.

Um, the 2000GT was a Toyota, and the Z cars were all Datsun/Nissans. Different manufacturers entirely.

Not sure what point you're getting at.

Predecessor of the 240Z was the 1600 and 2000 Datsun roadsters.

I think you're right...they were referred to as a Fairlady Roadster in Japan. A guy in the area has one...odd 3-person seating arrangement in some of them, with 2 in the front, and one cross-ways in the back.

Wheeler Dealers did a restoration of a Datsun 2000 roadster last week. That was a beautiful car.

They are, and tiny little things, too.
Question: How do you make a Miata look big?
Answer: Park it in front of a Datsun roadster...

I worked with a girl that had an orange one, she pulled out in front of a car and got T-Boned in the driver's door. She got lucky because she realized she was going to get hit and jumped into the passenger seat, car was totally crushed.
