I am new here so excuse my ignorance. What is the deal with these wheels? The website is always sold out. I am in love with the F5 and would love to have a set

Monthly drops, supply & demand, and a controlled market.

They’re worth the lottery. Have the funds and your mouse finger ready.

They don’t take back orders like many other companies do. You can only buy it if it’s in stock.

What it equals is fucking annoying......I had a set of Ray10's and they are decent wheels but at the end of the day they are a cheap cast wheel. I tried and tried to buy them from SCS for a couple weeks and got sick of it. Discovered my Toyota dealer had a pallet of them in stock so I just walked in an purchased a set.

Ive purchased 2 more sets of wheels since those......but not SCS......because not in stock and no pre pay to order. Thats $3K I spent somewhere else.

If these were forged Volks, I get it, ive waited months and over paid for a set in the past. I had a set of custom made Work wheels for my RX7 take almost a year to get, and I get it. But to wait and wait and wait and then scramble over some cheap cast wheels.....no thanks.

It all boils down to what you value, the approach to modding your own vehicle, and opportunity costs associated with the decisions. Some hold value in specific details or finishes, others, like yourself, look for different factors.

I’m glad you found some options that you enjoy!

    True.
So to be fair, neither production method is all inclusive to all SCS wheels in existence. My current and all previous sets of their wheels are the cast variety. Zero regerts.

I guess I should clarify that in no way do I have any complaints about the wheels. I sold them to a friend that bought a Tacoma and they look as good today as when I purchased them in 2017, especially for $900 or whatever I paid for them. My complaint is more with the business model. For me at least it was an aggravation trying to get what I wanted and im just going to go somewhere else.

I think of it like this. Applebees is just fine especially for the price, hundreds of people walk out of there happy every day......but Im not going to wait in line for 3 hours to eat there. On this website there seem to be a lot of people waiting hours in line to eat at Applebees and I just dont get it lol

That's his point, a lot of people aren't and won't. SCS is missing out on a lot of business by operating this way and it makes no sense. They could collect a large pre-order and use economies of scale to reduce their cost. I don't see any gain by not accepting people's money

Crazily some people don't want to their business to be the next big thing, but would rather have it be just big enough to fund their lifestyle.
