Strange electrical noise from underneath the truck

    Wow I love this forum, this drove me nuts last night, walking around the truck, thinking the fuel pump was malfunctioning - figured i would search the threads in this forum and see whats up, sure enough, I find an answer, thanks thanks thanks!!!

    THANK YOU. I heard this on my 2015 4Runner just now (midnight) after last driving it around 6. Freaked me out. Sounded like a sodium light was buzzing inside my garage. Convinced it was an electrical fire in the walls. Pulled truck out into driveway fully anticipating a car fire. Glad to hear it was this. How odd!

    Thanks! :) I’m in Houston and found this specific thread from googling the strange sound my Gen 5 was purring from its rear diff. I’ll check out the 4runner side for sure. Great forum!

    You can unscrew your gas cap to release the pressure and it will stop.

    I've spent an afternoon around, and under my truck after a short 25 mile ride, no noises whatsoever. Truck must have artificial intelligence to know when to make those noises if i go in house, or to bed.

    It usually runs that test about 5 hours after you last shut it off, dont be alarmed if you hear it buzzing someday.
