I kinda got my pioneer 6600 working. But not quite yet. Feeling pretty humble about the whole thing. So. Many. Plugs...

 

maybe that will work since the pig with a guy under his arm didn't.

I'll start it off.

I broke the old school 3 color grille badge that I just bought trying to put it on.
Seller is sending me another since the nuts that hold the 10-32 mounting studs were misaligned. Very brittle plastic.

 

I recently had to evacuate with the cats in the back of the camper. That was interesting....

Finished up battery upgrade, power trays and bed panel install.

 

I would think that would be a good way to go. Never have to worry about finding a room for the night... You've got it with you.

What problems did you run into?

 

Yeah, my goof from last night was pretty straightforward once I was told to look on the harness instead of the maestro. So I'm going to dig back into the dash once again a bit later on. I either didn't connect one of the germes lab T harnesses where it needs to go _or_ I just plain can't use the germes lab with the Pioneer. Hoping for the former but will try to do a little bit of basic troubleshooting before bothering people.

I just find it amusing how even something you prepare for and take progressive steps over time can throw you curveballs.

Oh yeah, and I have a spider living in my passenger mirror for the past two months. Finally started to rip the cover off it this morning to try to evict him/her but didn't finish pulling it off b/c it felt like I was going to destroy it. But the youtube videos seem to say you just pull the thing off hard and it doesn't crack...

 

Spider will eat any other critters trying to live there.

Canned air will flush the little bugger out and you won't have to worry about breaking anything. Just a thought.
Just bought some on Amazon along with a Sable make-up brush to try and clean the plastic cover on my instrument cluster.

 

From the little bit of playing I did with it when I had it, I couldn’t get the two to play together nicely. I ended going with a push button option for the front camera (and left and right side cameras). The steering wheel controls of the germe labs would have been nice, but I also wanted it to be idiot proof. So push button, make camera work. Push other button, make other camera work was kind of how I approached it. I can tell you how to do with a relay and a diode or two if you can’t get them to work together. But it will require a manual switch.

 

Well now I'm extra sad that I have to break up with my Germes. I'd almost keep etune for that guy.

And now I have to tap 12v switched power for the camera off the maestro harness which I didn't prepare for up front when I was soldering. Or maybe I keep the T harness only for camera power? That's a pretty expensive option...

 

I've got one living in my driver's side mirror. Every morning I knock the web off, by the next morning it's back. Thought it would get the idea eventually and think "Man, if I stay here I'm going to starve!"

I had to watch 3 of those videos before I worked up the nerve to do as they said and "Just grab it and pull!". Came off fine, no broken anything.

 

And they are cuddly too.

 

I have been amassing parts for a year, and have redone at least fourteen major revisions (and I don’t even know how many minor revisions) to my plan, and stuff still throws me off. I guess that’s part of what I like about it though. The whole, “crap, wasn’t expecting that. Now what do I have to do to get around that issue?” Part of it.

 

If that sucker was that big I'd use a garden hose........

The cats peed in their cat carriers, and now the camper kind of stinks. Also, when I got to the SPCA to shelter them, I forgot the camper key at the hotel, so I had to fish them out through the camper side window. That, and I only had the front camper straps on, as I didn't have time to put the rear camper brackets on, so I was thinking the camper was going to fly off the whole time. But, yeah, luckily the Calvary got there just in time, and the fire didn't make it over the hill. Our house is just fine, and luckily, I didn't need the camper for long term cat storage. lol

 

I'd send in my house centipede, but he's busy patrolling the kitchen counter. Ants do not dare venture into my kitchen.
