Think I'm ready to lock the cam timing in and put a carb and 700R4 in the taco

If you’re confident, I’ll keep an open mind and keep puttin away pennies so I can afford one. Til then, I’ll keep drivin my taco and making fun of my buddy’s ford. But kinda wishin I had one lol.

I really think this is the missing piece of the puzzle. My uninformed opinion is that the taco gets so caught up in finding the most efficient operating parameters that it leaves nothing in reserve for when you need a quick punch, and the transition from efficiency to power is time consuming and not smooth. Intelligent use of electric motors should be able to bridge the gap at the transition.

I don’t think the word “invested” belongs with anything that has to do with buying or modding vehicles. Investments grow money, not drain it. By now we should either be ok with the taco or not. If not, then it’s time to make decisions. I for one drove mine yesterday at 65mph through the desert giving my suspension a serious workout and getting a little squirly in 3rd when I’d stomp on it. 2.0 4.88 91 octane for 33’s has been cherry for me so far. Smiles for miles and a little bit of pucker :anonymous:

You can definitely invest into a loss. :D

Of course with all the Carvana threads, maybe it is not a loss these days?

Like you're saying though, the approach to the hunks of metal that we like to mod are nothing collectable or likely to earn us more money than saving it. :angrygirl:

No kidding! Anything that’s still around today would have been great to invest in the 90’s...even Toyota stock

I don't know...trying to squeeze V8 power out of a V6 by boosting, supercharging, tweaking or whatever other Frankensteining they do, has got to shorten the life of these smaller power-plants. You don't get something for nothing...Ford is going back to the V8 for the Raptor, anyone heard of issues with the Raptor's V6 Frankenstein engine?

Due to california fires we just wanted to let you guys know we may be unable to get flash cables for a while. I don't have the latest news but wanted to warn ahead of time.

Starting today we will be retiring the flash kit instructions from our website (you can still request them, just send us a message)

Ford isn’t going back to the V8 for reliability reasons. It’s a direct response to the Ram TRX

also, it’s not a “frankenstein” engine because it’s a turbo engine. Turbo engines are just turbo engines. They’re being used because you can make equivalent power out of a smaller engine to get better fuel economy than a larger NA engine

Yah, but heat is the #1 killer of an engine. Heat destroys all over time
